ROUNDING NUMBERS 28.04.2020
Before learning rounding numbers, we need to know a given number lies between two other numbers,
that is smaller ten and greater ten.
Eg:- 1) T O
3 3 is between 30 and 40
Eg:- 2) T O
4 8 is between 40 and 50
Eg:- 3) T O
1 2 is between 10 and 20
Eg:- 4) T O
7 3 is between 70 and 80
Eg:- 5) T O
8 7 is between 80 and 90
Rounding numbers 29.04.2020
When rounding a number to the nearest ten, look at the ones digit
a) If the ones digit is 4 or less round down.
b) If the ones digit is 5 or more round up.
Round to the nearest ten
a) 4 5, - 5 0
b) 1 1, - 1 0
c) 3 2, - 3 0
d) 7 9, - 8 0
e) 4 3, - 4 0
f) 9 1, - 9 0
g) 6 5, - 7 0
h) 9 5, - 1 0 0

EVEN AND ODD NUMBERS - C.W 30-04-2020
Even numbers: The numbers that can be put into pairs are even numbers. All the numbers that have 2,
4, 6, 8, 0 in the ones place are even numbers.
E.g:- 24, 356, 1268.
Odd numbers: The numbers that cannot be put into pairs are odd numbers. All the numbers that have 1,
3, 5, 7, 9 in the ones place are odd numbers
E.g:- 31, 457, 9875.
Write whether the given numbers are Odd or Even
1. 3 1 2 1 – odd number
2. 2 5 4 – Even number
3. 8 5 1 0 – Even number
4. 9 2 9 3 – odd number
5. 8 2 6 2 – Even number
6. 1 0 0 9 – odd number
L – 2 Addition 03.05.2020
Points
We use addition when we have to find how many are there in all.
Eg. 5 + 4 = 9
Here 5 and 4 are addends and 9 is the sum.
Sum is the result of an addition problem.
The numbers that are added are called addends.
Properties of Addition 04-05-2020 & 05.05.2020
1st Property
1. When you change the order of numbers while adding, the sum does not change.
Eg. 12 + 24 = 36 or 24 + 12 = 36.
20 + 30 = 50 or 30 + 20 = 50
2nd Property
The sum is always greater than the numbers being added except when one of the numbers is a zero.
Eg. 3 + 4 = 7
7 is greater than 3 and 4.
12 + 8 = 20
20 is greater than 12 and 8.
3rd Property
When you add 1 to a number the sum is the number after.
Eg. 15 + 1 = 16
37 + 1 = 38
99 + 1 = 100
4th Property
The sum of any number and zero is the same number.
Eg. 5 + 0 = 5
25 + 0 = 25
90 + 0 = 90 Fill in the blanks using properties:
1. 8756 + 0 = 8756
2. 8291 + 468 = 468 + 8291
3. 8562 + 1 = 8563
4. 2592 + 0 + 192 = 192 + 0
5. 860 + 0 = 860
6. 1347 + 0 = 1348
