Who was involved?

• Essex Planning Officer Association wish to deliver an Essex Quality Panel as the next stage to the recently revised Essex Design Guide.

• The aim is to continue to promote high quality

design and spaces throughout the county. • Place Services have been commissioned in the

creation and running of the panel following the success for the EDG.

• EPOA’s key agenda is to promote Essex through

links with the quality panel and… • Broadening the professions used within a typical

panel set up.

Essex Quality Panel

• Essex is one of the fastest growing regions in the UK

• The continued promotion of high quality

design has never been more important. • Essex promotes exception design throughout

the county. • Future growth warrants strong design

precedence. • Major development includes major

infrastructure including Stansted extension, Garden Communities (Cross boarder) 40,000 new dwellings, Enterprise corridors

Essex Quality Panel Approach

Aim • Promote and encourage high quality

design. • To utilise the knowledge and skill of both

local and national professionals. • To create a diverse panel for many

professions to mirror that of the EDG themes

• It is important to the EPOA that the

majority of the panel is made up of professionals who work within or have had projects within Essex.

• Contextual knowledge is important to

ensure a panel is well informed to provide constructive and contextual led panel which can be hard to achieve outside of London.
