Atwater Farmer’s Market has been in operation since 1933. Open year-round, Atwater Market provides a wide variety of fresh, refined and original merchandise.

The market needed a poster design containing all their information such as their address, opening hours, dates, and contact information.

The design is very simple and straightforward using a lot of colours that represent freshness and nature. The poster uses bilingual texts. Given that no photos were allowed, all artwork is illustrated. The poster had certain specifications such as including all the required logos of the sponsors.

Atwater Farmer’s Market was able to attract clientele due to this promotional poster.

Report Design

A simple data viz report is a visual representation of the collected information from my design DNA, which is a folder of 100 images showing my design style.

For this project, I needed to find a way to display the information in a cohesive way that properly fit on one page by separating it in five ways: application, emotion/mood, composition, colour/tone, and subject matter.

Using the Chartwell font, I was able to make charts and graphs displaying the information. I made a neutral colour palette to maintain the consistency of my design style. Once all visuals were made, I was able to make a layout dividing the sections. The focus was to design everything in a simple and legible way without creating too much clutter and keeping some white space.

Overall, the project was very enjoyable. I was able to use my attention to detail and precision to design a cohesive and legible report.

Magazine Spread Design

Panoram Italia magazine is a Canadian publication aimed for Italian-Canadians. The magazine has a variety of sections such as recipes, articles, advertisements, wine guides, baby and newlywed pictures, etc. Their purpose is to promote the importance of keeping the Italian traditions and culture.

This project involved designing a feature story spread for an existing magazine of our choice. The goal was to follow the specific guidelines and style of that particular magazine.

After careful analysis of the Panoram Italia magazine, I was able to research an existing article, translate the text and brainstorm ideas to create possible layouts. I considered how the magazine uses their visual elements and integrate them into my spread.

Overall, the feature story spread has a personality of its own, while still reflecting Panoram Italia’s style and elements. I had the opportunity to work with a magazine that uses unconventional dimensions which required attention to layout and hierarchy.

Magazine Cover Design

Couch Potato magazine is a lifestyle magazine for English Bulldog pet owners and lovers.

This project involved designing a magazine cover from scratch of our choice. The publication design needed to include publication name, masthead, cover image, dateline, coverlines, and plugs. It was important to keep note of how all visual elements work in harmony with each other as well as the established brand.

After finding an example of a magazine cover and breaking it down to analyze each visual element present in the layout, I began brainstorming ideas to create my own. I decided to make the dog the main focus of the magazine and try to use the space around it to complete the design. Once the magazine was completed, I translated everything to make a French version as well.

Overall, the colours and the font are very simple and straightforward. The colour palette fits with the actual colours of the dog and the title is a clear representation of English Bulldogs. The magazine design speaks the voice of the publication brand.

Tri-Fold Menu Design

Big Jimbo’s Deli is a fictional restaurant located in British Colombia, Canada. They are open for breakfast, lunch, and supper serving traditional diner food.

This project involved creating a tri-fold brochure as a menu for a deli. All text and images were provided. The content needed to be properly integrated in the layout.

After brainstorming layout ideas considering all the provided components, I began trying to make all the information fit properly which required attention to detail and trying multiple concepts. Once I was able to make all the components fit, I was able to move onto designing the actual look of the menu based on the colours of their logo.

Overall, the project was time consuming and challenging. The menu turned out satisfactory and it was also printed.

For Dummies is a series of instructional books which present guides for readers new to various topics.

This project involved creating a redesign of four book cover jackets for a book series of our choice. The jackets needed to include the following parts: front cover (title, author), spine (title, author, publisher logo), back cover (summary, author, label, price, barcode, etc.), and inside flaps (summary of the book and/or author’s bio).

After doing some research about the book series, I brainstormed ideas to create a new layout and a new colour palette. The main colour is green because it represents growth which is relevant since the books are based on learning. I added yellow and orange for intellect and stimulation. Given that it’s a redesign, certain elements needed to remain. Finally, I created the lightbulb illustration to add a visual component.

Overall, the jackets are designed in a way that they are unified by graphic style and elements.

Wild South is a 2010 wine from New Zealand.

This project involved designing a wine label and booklet for a white wine: Wild South.

After researching wine labels and getting some inspiration, I was able to gather a colour palette and start designing textures. Eventually, I was able to place my text. Although there isn’t much text on a wine label, it was crucial to make everything fit properly and still have enough empty space. Once the wine label design was done, it was simple to create the booklet since it needs to follow the same design style.

Overall, the project was very amusing and fascinating. I truly believe that the design speaks for itself and it properly represents the feel of a white wine.

Newsletter Design

A newsletter is a printed report containing news concerning the activities of a business or organization that is sent to members or other subscribers.

For this project, I created a 4-page newsletter for a monthly publication of Tourisme Montréal. The newsletter needed to include the following elements: nameplate, heads and titles, body, masthead, bylines, running head, and page numbers.

Prior to beginning, I designed a layout to properly place all the required content. I focused a lot on hierarchy, typography, alignment, and white space. I made sure my text was perfectly incorporated and eventually placed images by modifying their size. Also, I focused on making the writing clear and legible to the users.

Overall, the newsletter design is consistent all throughout the four pages. Also, it properly presents the aspect of tourism in the city of Montreal.

An annual report is the collection of a company’s activities throughout the year. Annual reports inform people with information about the company’s activities and finances.

This project involved creating a multi-page, simple annual report for Roots Canada. All of the content was supplied including the text, tables and images. All text and tables needed to be included.

The supplied content from the Microsoft Word and Excel documents needed to be placed into the InDesign document. After setting up the document and planning my layout according to the content, I considered how I would divide the sections to allow for the best flow of content. I considered my choices in typography based on Roots.

Overall, the content flows properly and the pages are not condensed with text. The visuals create an easy read for consulting individuals. The project demanded planning and precise layout techniques.

Brand Identity

Treehouse is a school of gymnastics and acrobatic arts. Their mission is to gather all those who wish to push their own limits by the practice of acrobatic sports. Treehouse wants to create a unique sporting environment that promotes pleasure, excitement and pride.

This project involved creating the branding for a fictional company. Treehouse needed a complete branding for their business including a logo along with several mockups for their new merchandise.

After brainstorming ideas, I was able to create a colour palette for the logo. The company is open to people of all ages which required to make a design that can capture everybody’s attention. I created something that represents the movement of the human body during gymnastics and the objects used. I selected a slightly desaturated cyan and a very soft cyan to add some contrast and make a gradient. I’ve chosen these colours because blue usually represents stability and tranquility, while green usually represents growth and freshness. Also, I wanted to remain gender neutral despite the stereotypes revolving around gymnastics and acrobatic arts.

This project demanded a lot of organization in order to make everything cohesive. The choice of fonts, colours, and overall look was an important focus because it reflects the entire brand’s identity.

YouTheCEO is a Toronto based business aiming to help people become more woke and emotionally intelligent. Their mission is to help people tap into their greatness using emotional intelligence.

This project involved redesigning their logo. YouTheCEO was looking into expanding their brand and making merchandise for their clientele.

The client already has specific guidelines and needs, which facilitated the entire process. Given their mission, the logo needed to visually demonstrate intelligence. The colours and font had already been selected.

The creation of this project was interesting especially since the client already had a very clear idea in mind. Ultimately, the result was exactly as imagined, and the client remained content and satisfied.

MiraLAX is a laxative that provides effective, gentle relief from occasional constipation.

This project involved a creation of an advertisement using an idiom of our choice. I decided to use the following idiom: get it out of your system. Typically, the significance behind the idiom is to get rid of something.

I began researching idioms in order to brainstorm possible ideas. In order for the idiom to stand out, I had to find a visual that fit properly and spoke for itself. I researched the company’s past advertisements to follow their design pattern and maintain existing colours and fonts.

Overall, the idiom is properly used and the visual speaks for itself.

Apple is a multinational technology company that designs, develops, and sells consumer electronics, computer software, and online services.

This project involved the creation of an advertisement using a specific item of our choice. I decided to make my advertisement using an elastic band.

After brainstorming ideas to use the item in a creative way within an advertisement concept, I began making multiple different layouts. I needed to think of all possible uses an elastic band could have. The item had to stand out and it needed to be integrated within the text to create a catchy play on word. Also, it was important to properly research the company in order to design an ad following their particular look and style.

Overall, the elastic band was used in a simple and creative way. The audience can easily understand the message and associate the advertisement with Apple.

The National Eating Disorder Information Centre (NEDIC) provides information, resources, referrals and support to Canadians affected by eating disorders through a help line or instant chat.

This project involved a creation of an advertisement campaign in the effort of raising awareness about a problem. I decided to create something about eating disorders.

I researched about eating disorders in order to avoid creating something false or distorted. Once I had a better understanding about the problem itself, I began brainstorming for inspiration. The designs are similar given that they need to flow together and spread the same message. The campaign focuses on three different disorders: bulimia, binge eating, and anorexia. Also, each advertisement shares a statistic about each eating disorder.

Overall, the advertisement campaign flows well together and raises awareness about an important issue.

The Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) is one of the world’s leading environmental organizations.

This project involved a creation of a conceptual poster raising awareness about overfishing. The design needed to impact the audience, either with exaggeration, poignancy, or motivation.

I researched the company’s past advertisements for inspiration. I created something that impacts with exaggeration to inspire the audience. The focus was to design something impactful with a visual aspect rather than words.

Overall, the conceptual poster invokes awareness about the health of the oceans.

KMP Services is a home-based family operated business located in the Montreal, Quebec area committed to providing high quality, personalized PC repairs, upgrades, and many other tech support services you may need.

Objective: Logo rebranding and website designRole: Graphic & Web Designer

Challenges

KMP Services needed rebranding including a new logo with a minimalistic look that clearly stood out against competitors and portrayed a level of trust to the target audience. In addition, they needed a website in order to expand their customer base.

Logo Design

KMP Services had a logo that had not been updated since the foundation of the company. The new logo represents simplicity, and the colour palette was designed purposely for clients to have a sense of trust and loyalty within the business. Several prototypes were made, and the client ultimately made the final decision.

In order to have a better visual understanding about the process to achieve the final result of the rebranding, I have included the 4 prototypes, the final logo accompanied with a mockup as well as the original logo.

Social Media Plan

The social media process required analyzing my client’s audience and create a social media plan to promote their services on both Facebook and Instagram. The content needed to be creative, engaging, and relevant.

The objective behind the social media posts are to engage, educate, and excite.

Engage → Let the audience know about the offered services: computer repair, maintenance, networking, system upgrades, and malware, virus and adware services.

Educate → Let the audience know about my client’s qualifications: CompTIA A+ Certified and Microsoft Certified Professional.

Excite → Create and promote special offers to attract existing clients and new potential clients.

Given that KMP Services wanted to expand their customer base, they were in need of a five page website. All the information was provided by the client, which facilitated the layout process. That being said, there was a lot of information to gather, which was crucial to properly organize in order to have a cohesive website that users can easily navigate.

Outcome

This was a challenging project especially for time management and organization. It allowed me to learn a lot both professionally and personally. Overall, the client was extremely satisfied with the end result which is the ultimate goal and purpose.

Église de la Nouvelle Espérance is a Christian Evangelical church located in Montreal, Quebec since 1981. Their mission revolves around salvation, forgiveness, heaven, throne, love, and hope.

Objective: Logo rebranding Role: Graphic Designer

Challenge

Église de la Nouvelle Espérance needed a new logo with a minimalistic soft look incorporating specific elements such a circle and a cross. This project involved working within confined limitations which allowed a deeper exploration for creativity.

Design Process

Église de la Nouvelle Espérance had a logo that had not been updated for quite some time. The church needed something new and fresh. The new logo represents the world, more specially unity and togetherness. The colour palette includes very simple basic colours such as black, white and grey. The typography needed to be a soft calligraphic font. Also, the logo needed to include the cross and the name of the organization at the bottom. The logo can be used both ways: icon with name or icon individually.

In order to have a better visual understanding about the process to achieve the final result of the logo, I have included the 4 prototypes, the final logo accompanied with mockups as well as the original logo.

Outcome

This project was a long creative process and required weekly meetings with the client. It was a great experience especially since it was my first official contract. I needed to learn how to properly follow client specifications as well as staying within the confined needs. I had the opportunity to learn a lot creatively, professionally, and personally. Overall, it was a fantastic experience for myself and the client was very pleased with the result.
