Overall Pitch

I am creating a new magazine called Bzzurkk! to be published on a fortnightly basis. The name comes from the noise of plugging in an electric guitar. I am aiming at rock music fans, ranging from pop rock to metal rock, hence the music related name and the exclamation mark, similar style to the Kerrang! magazine.The target audience I am aiming for are from the ages of 15 – 24 which is a very popular target age across the magazine industry and aim to please both Males and Females equally. The magazine will be published on a monthly basis due to the result collected from my survey; many people said they rarely buy music magazines so publishing weekly would be ridiculous however publishing month is long enough for them to want to read the next issue but short enough to keep up with the vast movement of the times. The magazine will only cost £1.50 which is set to fit with the target audience, because the majority of people in that age group will be students, they won’t have the money to spend £4.00 on a magazine hence selling ours at 1.50 which is a reasonable price. Also will persuade viewers to buy the magazine every two weeks as it’s cheap so they can afford to buy each issue.

Bzzurkk’s 15-24 year old readers are smart with lots of energy who express their individuality. A lot of Bzzrkk readers active gamers who are lovers of band merchandise and CD’s and as a whole are loyal to their favourite bands, brands and us!

Masthead FontThese are some of the fonts I looked at whilst deciding on my masthead. They are all bold, stand out and are in all in caps making it more eye catching, similar style to many rock magazines e.g. Kerrang! Which is my biggest inspiration. The font I decided on was the top font as I thought it was simple but very eye-catching. The other fonts were too rounded whereas this font was sharp and suited the genre and aimed audience well.

Colour Scheme:These are the main 4 colours I have decided to use, looking into a range of rock magazines these 4 colours appear as a running theme, possibly due to the fact they are bright and stand out.

Cover Lines:For the cover lines I decided to stick with something that stands out but doesn’t take the attention away from the masthead so I decided on this font. I want to keep the font in capitals to again catch the audiences eye but the font is less bold and won’t draw away the attention.
