Pirate Lapbook
This pack contains early learning printables to use with your
toddler or preschooler when studying about pirates. We used the
book On a Pirate Ship by Sarah Courtauld and Benji Davies and
absolutely loved it!!
I would highly recommend printing the activities from this set
onto cardstock so that they are sturdier for younger hands.
Printables for this lapbook/folder include:
Name tag strip for front of lapbook
Story summary sheet for one of your favorite books
Verse printable for Matthew 6:21 ~ Where your treasure is...
Pirate words
Upper and lowercase ABC cards to trace or use for matching
Pirate ship size sequencing
Count the Gold ~ counting booklet
Parrot Colors ~ a coloring book
Pirate puppets ~ to re-enact your story {or tell your own}
Animal cards from the book On a Pirate Ship

Use the top section for your child to practice writing his/her name and add to the
front of the lapbook. Depending on the book that you use for your pirate adven-
ture, have your child summarize the book and record what they tell you. Add the
mini ‘book report’ to the front of your lapbook.

Animals in the Book
When we read a story, we look to see what animals are in the book. These animals are from the book On a Pirate Ship by Sarah Courtauld and Benji Davies. The cards are laminated and then put on a jump ring so we can flip through the cards and review the animals in the weeks and months that follow. If you would rather, you can print the cards off onto cardstock and store them in the pocket provided.

Find the TREASURE!
This is a fun and simple game to play with your preschooler! All
you need is a game board {two pieces}, game piece markers {like
small bingo chips}, and a die.
Directions:
Take turns rolling the die. If you land on one of the dark blue or
brown dots, stop and read to see what you need to do. Some-
times you can move ahead, you might have to drop anchor and
stay for a bit, or go back a few spaces. The first one to reach the
‘x’ marks the spot ~ wins!
Set Sail!! Oh no! Your ship needs repairs. Drop
anchor and stay here for one turn.

Your hat blew off! Go back 2 spaces and get
it out of the water.
You found a message in a

bottle with a shortcut!!
Another pirate ship fired on your ship!
Stop and hide for 1 turn.
Lots of wind in your sails! Glide ahead 3 spots!
