INTRODUCTION

• My name is Zaryab and I will be talking about PIR sensors in this presentation. I am currently studying a level 3 BTEC extended diploma in IT.

• By producing this presentation, I have got a better understanding of how of how they are used in todays society.

• I have created a few slides explaining what PIR sensors are, what they are used for and how they work.

WHAT IS THE MOTION SENSORS?• A motion sensor is a sensor that detects moving things, such

as people. These types of motion sensors are on top of a door to detect weather a person has walked inside or not.

• A motion detector often is integrated as a component of a system that automatically performs a task or alerts a user of motion in an area. There are motion sensors everywhere, such as street lights. It detect the light of the sky and then turns on the light depending on how light or dark it is.

EXAMPLES OF MOTION SENSORS

A few examples of motion sensors are;

• Automatic doors

• Metal detectors

• Motion detectors in stores e.g. security detectors

• Lights that turn on when you move or clap your hands

• Burglar alarms

PICTURES FROM CLASS PROJECT

• These are the pictures from the class project for motion sensor that I had been working on. It shows how I created a motion sensors, and what equipment I used. Once I put my hand near the sensor. The light turned on due to it detecting my hand.

HOW I USED MOTION SENSORS IN CLASS?

• I was able to use motion sensors in class by connecting the breadboard to a speaker in order to create a burglar alarm which is an example I have mentioned in my presentation earlier.

• I also made the system detect my hand which turned a red light and alarm on.

HOW DOES MOTION SENSOR WORK IN INDUSTRIES?

• There are two ways in which a motion sensor works, The first way is mostly found in residential homes.

• The second way is when a passive infrared sensor (PIR) detects emitted infrared energy which is given off by humans and animals in the form of heat.

• When there is a sudden increase in infrared energy, the alarm is sounded.
