Expressions like, “it is what it is” and “the new normal”

emerged during “the great recession” of the last few years.

I don’t know about you, but I’m ready to say and hear

some new expressions. While some sit around waiting

for things to get better or maybe for the Mayan calendar

to run out, Wiginton Corporation’s thoughts must be on

things that are true, noble, just, pure, good and virtuous.

We must accept “what is,” yet have faith in the future. And

when asked how business is going, we should unanimously

shout a convincing and resounding “UNBELIEVABLE!”

A New Year with New Possibilities

0202

Truly, it’s been unbelievable how we kept 70

percent of our revenues after construction in

Florida fell off at least 70 percent. It’s been

unbelievable how we have grown geographically

into Atlanta and now into Houston, expanding

our product offerings, adding chemical

suppression, fire alarms and mechanical

fabrication to our repertoire.

We haven’t enjoyed the earnings we achieved

prior to this era of adjustment, but at least

there have been earnings. Friendships were

strengthened as we successfully kept customers

happy through our unique culture of commitment

to provide excellence in our design/fab/build/

service business model. We kept our teams and

infrastructure intact and in fact, we actually

became leaner and greener than ever while

serving clients all over America from California to

Connecticut. Congratulations, team, and a special

THANK YOU to everyone, especially those who

sacrificed time at home to be out there installing

sprinklers throughout the country. With attitudes

of dedication and of gratitude like that, the

unbelievable is achievable.

As we navigate through 2012 and beyond, we have

identified all sorts of innovative ways to improve

our business and create more opportunities for the

good people who make their company great. How

fortunate are we to be Americans who own their

own company, living in Florida and now Georgia,

Texas, Indiana and Michigan? Did I miss anyone?

Be on the lookout for the soon-to-be-published

Wiginton Corporation “We’ll Street Journal,” which

will have a lot of visionary headlines focusing

on our leadership pipeline, more geographic

growth, and technology tools to make serving our

customers even less wasteful and more convenient.

Our commitments to quality, integrity, innovation

and dedication to each other and our industry will

continue to produce fruit.

Yes, it’s a new year with new possibilities, and we

can’t wait to see what tomorrow will bring. Life is

good. Live it up!

Let’s hear your best expression.

Don

PRiMoiSSUE#1for the Wiginton Way regarding

ITM. NFPA 25, is NOT an Engineering Evaluation. It

IS an operational inspection assuming the existing

design & installation is right. Yes, WE here at Wig

CAN do Engineering Evaluations too, however, our

customer service personnel must fully understand

the difference and work hard daily to help the

customer get what they need. All of our inspectors

are trained to document in-house an observation

form whereby, when we recognize something is

out of whack, engineering/occupancy changes.

Our Sales and Management teams can use their

skills and professionalism to help clients identify

problems, provide engineering solutions and

pricing to resolve issues in separate contracts.

The biggest mistake being made across the

country with AHJ’s & Owners is: the notion that

25 Inspections are synonymous for engineering

Evaluations. A quick analogy: When you take your

car to a mechanic to check it out, does he hook the

car up to a 5,000 lb boat trailer and test it to see if

it will pull that boat from 0-60 mph in accordance

with manufacturer’s torque load performance

specifications? No! Similarly, NFPA 25, we don’t

test the fire sprinkler system to perform against

its original design. Yet with that said, don’t forget

our moral obligation in the event we happen upon

something that appears to be a malfunction.

i’dliketoalsotouchoniRC-international

ResidentialCode. Fire Sprinklers in single-family

homes? While the industry did get it written into

the body of the Code, very few States throughout

the Country have adopted the code mandating

sprinklers. Florida- sadly, no sprinklers required.

Bottom line: ANY Government mandates for

something new are simply “unpopular” and not

doable at this time. Question is, will the industry

muster the courage and the resources to fight

the inevitable attacks coming in the IRC (Int’l

Res code)? Wiginton was hugely involved and

supported the previous efforts, putting our money

where our mouth is and politicking. We’ll be

watching and balancing our energies.

Lastly, in spite of the tough economic environment,

the Fire Sprinkler Contractors of Florida are

working together for the greater good and are

better than ever. FFSA (Florida Fire and Sprinkler

Association) & AFSA-FL have teamed up on several

fronts, especially ITM and working together to

educate AHJ’s on our products and collaborating,

on legislative efforts to protect markets for Fire

Sprinklers. For example, three-story buildings still

require sprinklers in Florida. We also expect to

be retrofitting more high-rise condos throughout

Florida by 2018.

A special Thank You to everyone on the Wig Corp

team for holding down the fort while I travelled

last year. Wiginton has a longheld tradition that it’s

simply our duty to drive and support the industry

and trade that has supported all of us.

Thank you for Owning your Company, and all that

goes with that responsibility.

Sincerely,

Alanwiginton

As we enter our

first quarter of

2012, we will

welcome a

new President

elected to lead

the National

Fire Sprinkler

Association.

While not

yet publicly

announced,

longtime

President of

NFSA, Mr. John Viniello, is expected to announce

his retirement in March 2012. Mr. Viniello has

been at the helm of NFSA since 1984, and

Wiginton Corporation extends its best wishes and

appreciation for John’s tireless commitment and

passion to saving lives and property through Fire

Sprinkler Technology.

As the sitting Area 4 - Director on the Board of

NFSA, it will be a great honor and challenge for

me as one vote of the current 22 directors to elect

the best successor for this powerful role. Elections

to take place March 2, 2012 in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Current hot topics include - Technical - Fire

Sprinklers National & State.

With new construction not expected to recover

until 2015 on a nationwide basis, Service and

Inspections have been a saving grace for Wiginton

Fire and many other contractors. Fortunately,

we have always made strong investments in our

Service Work now. Now more than ever, that

investment will pay dividends.

Under the esteemed leadership of Mr. John Lake,

VP-Service Markets, Wiginton has set the bar for

how to perform ITM, not only statewide here in

Florida, but at the national level in the NFPA code.

The Technical NFPA code-writing committee for

NFPA 25 has adopted many procedures developed

at Wiginton. Everyone will see in the appendix

of NFPA 25, (2011-ed) a familiar matrix to help

organize the tasks and frequency necessary to

simplify Inspections of Fire Sprinkler Equipment.

We, particularly here at Wig Corp, work daily to

understand and serve our clients’ needs from in

the field, then carry out that information to the

beginning of all the aforementioned politics to keep

it as simple as possible. Everyone, please, please,

please, remember that it’s the customer who pays

for the service, and we must put ourselves in their

shoes everyday and always fight for their needs.

As we close out 2011 and move into 2012 I’m proud of

our people and the efforts they made this year. We all

know we’re operating in a difficult economic climate.

But winners never portray

themselves as victims. We

could sit back and say

there’s little or nothing we

can do about our situation,

but that’s not the way

we’re built. Winners roll

up their sleeves and go

to work. We identify new

markets to serve and new

products to sell. Each and

every day we make that

extra sales call, we work

our way into markets we

have not served before,

we develop a new vendor

relationship to further

expand our product and

service offerings.

Quality Fab now sells

copper pipe and fittings,

both copper sweat and Viega Pro Press. We’re

fabricating pipe through 24 inch in diameter. We’re

selling stainless steel pipe and fittings. We’re selling

wye strainers and flexible connections for use in chilled

water systems.

It seems that our traditional fire sprinkler market

continues to slowly improve in Florida and the

Caribbean. We currently have five projects

underway in the islands,

three in the Bahamas,

one in the Abacos and one

on Grand Cayman Island.

I’m excited about 2012.

The ground work we

laid in 2011 should

produce many exciting

opportunities this year.

We have made great

strides to diversify

ourselves to further

recession-proof our

company. We will see

recessions again in the

future, but the sales

efforts and strategic

planning we’re doing

today will help greatly

mitigate the impact on us

in the future.

So in conclusion, I ask that everyone keep working

hard and smart. Keep supporting each other. Keep

your heads held high and believe in each other more

than ever.

The words exclaimed

by the announcer as

Tiger Woods hit his

putt into the hole on

the 17th green at the

Players Championship. It was not luck that he made that putt and

went on to win, it was a culmination of hard

work and dedication that caused his success,

and we are no different.

We are still living in uncertain times, and we

should remain proud of the fact that we are

doing better than most. As I travel around, I

continue to hear about others in our industry

that recently went out of business or are

experiencing inner turmoil. While I certainly

don’t revel in the struggles of others, it makes

me proud of our team and what we have been

able to accomplish.

We have continued to stick together, we have

remained profitable, many of our branches

are growing, we are gaining new customers

and we are looking at geographic expansion.

These successes are very important because

they provide opportunities for everyone.

Some will feel it by just getting 40 hours,

it may be a bit of overtime, it may be a

new foreman position is created, it may be

a design position that is created, or even

possibly a sales or management position.

While these successes are positive signs, we

still have a long road ahead. And while no

one has a crystal ball, some of the smartest

economists disagree about the future. Some

expect continued slow recovery while others

are predict more doom and gloom. Recently I

have found those economists are right about

as often as the weatherman!

Our mission at Wiginton is to focus on

the things we can control, specifically our

attitudes and our relationships with both our

customers and our families.

Please stay positive and plan on making it to

“the big time” where you are!

FIRE SYSTEMS

As I traveled around the company and met with different employees in different offices to discuss benefits and wellness, I was amazed by how many people came up to me they have made lifestyle changes.I applaud those of you who quit smoking, lost weight, or started an exercise program. Change is never easy, and

making a habit out of something when it is just as easy to stay in old habits is incredible. For those of you who

want to make the change, ask around. We have so many role models right here. From Te Bigley in Jacksonville

who quit smoking, to Joel Summerfield who started diet and exercise programs, to Jasaan Arruda and his wife

Rebecca who made a commitment to healthy lifestyles and are now competitive runners.

In 2011, employees from nearly every office participated in 10 different events in 10 different cities. We logged

approximately 323 combined miles and burned approximately 100,000 calories. Thank you to everyone who

participated. Our goal for this year is to double our efforts and to have more than 100 employees and their family

members participate in a Wellness event. You don’t have to be in great shape and you don’t have to run. Walkers

are always welcome. We will do more events in more places in 2012. Stay tuned!

Our Wellness Warriors for 2011 were given a personalizedLouisvilleSlugger with the company logos. Our grand

champion Warriors are Willie Ward and Bobby Taylor from Tampa. Willie participated in every event in 2011, and

Bobby would have participated in every event if Willie didn’t make him work. They traveled to Miami, Jacksonville,

and Atlanta to keep the dream alive.

You probably heard about the

dramatic real-life story on the evening

news or perhaps on the radio. On

Jan. 15, 2009 at around 3:30 p.m., US

Airways Flight 1549 was forced to

land in the Hudson River just minutes

after departing New York’s La Guardia

Airport. Perhaps you remember the

good news: all 155 passengers and five crew members

survived, including the pilot.

Captain Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger is being heralded

as a “hero,” a title he very much rejects. The news media,

the passengers and their families call him a hero. And

why not? Saving 159 human lives would definitely qualify

anyone as a hero.

In his book, “Highest Duty,” Captain Sully recounts his

time in the Air Force and subsequently as a commercial

pilot. He talks about his training and experiences. And he

reflects on what he learned from instructors and studying

the fatal mistakes of other pilots.

I was pleasantly surprised and encouraged when reading

his book. I learned about his dedication to airline safety

and training, not as a routine part of his job but as a

true participant. He was involved in conducting accident

investigations, making safety recommendations, and

training others.

In the book he also mentioned Derek, a passenger who

was a first officer from another airline and how he helped

a fellow traveler. The person had been in the water

(several passengers attempted to swim in the freezing

waters but returned to the plane) and his clothes were

wet. Derek ordered the traveler to get out of his clothes

immediately, and then gave him his shirt. Derek later said

that it was his Boy Scout training that helped him know

that the man needed to get out of the wet clothes fast. I

like the fact that Captain Sully took the time to mention

this event in his book. This seems somewhat redundant

given the magnitude of what had happened. But I get the

message he’s trying to convey - no training goes to waste.

You may never know when that lesson will come handy,

perhaps 20 years from now, but you will be prepared and

ready when the time arrives. Live long and prosper.”

Be Safe.

Here are a few quotes I have highlighted:

HowDiDYoUgEtStARtEDAtwiginton?

I started working with Wiginton February 15, 1993. I

came from a temp service, and was sent to Wiginton for

an interview. My interview was with Robert Jolly and

Dave Menzel. I knew right then and there this would be

the job for me. I felt so honored to become a Wiginton

employee.

The first Wiginton office was originally located in

Longwood, FL. The corporate department shared one

big office, and within that office, each of us had our own

very small work spaces. Robert Jolly’s office space was

the largest, naturally and he had this huge table for a

desk. Working at the Longwood location was a close

knit group that reminded me of working from home.

A favorite memory was when I received my 10-year

bracelet. It was so exciting. Another fond memory

was looking through old pictures that were kept in the

fire safe.

Though Wiginton has completed

several projects with Campanelli

Companies over the recent years, it

had been quite a few years since

we provided services with Preferred

Freezer Services. A last-minute

opportunity came up to work with

Campanelli on a new 141,750 square

foot Preferred Freezer Services

project consisting of an Automated

Storage Retrieval System (ASRS)

Cold Storage Warehouse in Elizabeth,

New Jersey. This was a high-profile

project consisting of a 72-foot-high

building with 62 feet of storage, and

it was the first time Preferred Freezer

used this type of racking layout.

With the challenge placed in front

of us, Wiginton gathered the forces

necessary to provide our typical quality

services in a timely manner.

Due to this being a last-minute

opportunity, there was approximately

one week to put a price on the

project. Once the price was finalized,

Wiginton started hammering away with

coordination on the ASRS and working

out all variables with the local fire

marshal to make this project as smooth

and successful as possible.

Once the preliminary coordination was

worked out, designer Chris Hendricks

was full speed ahead to meet schedule.

Chris put a lot of time and effort into

making sure the in-rack sprinklers fit

like a glove, in addition to providing an

owner-friendly in-rack system, as these

racks are all automated and calibrated

to the fraction of an inch.

Wiginton’s elite out-of-state field

crews showed up to start installation

with six men total. There was an initial

impression by some that there was no

way Wiginton could keep up with the

rack manufacturer only having 6 men

onsite. Once again, Wiginton blew the

socks off of the customer and other

working subcontractors onsite with

Tyler Hughes saying in each weekly job

meeting, “I need more racks!!!” Pipe

was moving through the air while the

Wiginton crews were keeping their

optimistic views and making friends.

I can’t count how many times Zan

Perry with Preferred Freezer and Karl

Dickman/John Landry with Campanelli

called me or sent emails stating how

impressed they were with Tyler and the

crews. The customer couldn’t believe

the teams’ productivity and generous

manners working with the other trades.

Once the project was complete,

Preferred Freezer Services had a very

generous and class-act open house

with this state-of-the-art facility for all

of the teams who helped to make this

project successful.

This job was truly a team

accomplishment, with top notch efforts

made by a branch manager, a sales rep,

designer, and crews from the out-of-

state team.

Congratulations to apprentice Ray Simonin and his

wife Shawntel, who were married on May 27th of

this year.

We’d like to welcome Service Tech Howard

Linsdey and Administrative Assistant

Audrey Lee to our team.

Four members of the Atlanta team, Patrick Cordi,

Chad Clowers, Ben Colbert and Ray Simonin,

along with spouses and children, participated in

the Forest Park 5K on September 14th along with

Steve Browne from corporate, and Willie and Laura

Ward and Bobby Taylor from Tampa. It was the

first 5K for any of us on the Atlanta team. We had

a blast and plan to do it again soon.

Patrick Cordi celebrated his 16th anniversary with

Wiginton on May 5th of this year.

Atlanta Is heading into the new year with high

hopes and some good backlog, and hopes to take

the training wheels off soon!

Season’s greetings from the Jax, Gainesville, and Pensacola

team! 2011 brought continued success in the Jax contract

department due to several large projects throughout the

US. Thanks to Patrick Cordi for landing the Colavita job

in Edison, NJ, Matt Creasman for landing the MCX Camp

Lejeune project in NC, and Alan Urmson for landing the KDC

Project Buckeye in Columbus, OH. If not for the success of

Aaron Bellemore and his experienced team executing these

projects, we would not have enjoyed a second consecutive

year of deferred profit and decent net incomes. For the Jax

Service & Inspection department, Ken, Wayne and their team

continue to run crazy meeting customer’s needs and putting

fires out. Here’s to Paul Lutman for reaching NICET Level-III in

Inspections Testing and Maintenance. Over the past year, we

made several attempts to find the correct Inspection Sales

Rep, but to no avail. However, our luck has changed for the

best in that we’ve welcomed Troy Carter to our team as the

newest S&I sales rep. I feel strongly that he’ll help us to meet

our 2012 budget. A big congratulation to Charles Chancey

for reaching NICET Level-IV in sprinkler layout! What a huge

accomplishment and proof that Charles can do anything he

sets his mind on.

For the guys in Gainesville, it was status quo throughout

the year. The Gainesville / Ocala new construction market

continues to remain stagnant, so the team is pushing in a

new direction by focusing more towards the service arena.

Bill Eder is working hard to focus on service and learning to

wear many new hats. Bill, Chuck Scheerer, and Buddy Hogg

Tampa

welcomed Michael Ivey, the newest team member

to the Gainesville office. Michael brings many years of

service and inspections experience to the team and will

inevitably help the Gainesville office reach their targeted

service growth.

And then there are the two guys in Pensacola. Herman

Suero and Bert Wynne continue to amaze us every day

in that they make it their business to work at the Ascend

Chemical plant and to keep the plant in proper working

order. For those that have seen the plant with their own

eyes, you know that what they do is a daunting task.

Congratulations to Herman for reaching NICET Level-II in

Inspection, Testing and Maintenance.

As most of you have heard by now, Patrick Cordi, Josh

Britt, and Audrey Lee are finally breaking free from the

lanyards of being a twig. Congratulations to the entire

Atlanta team!! I have no doubt they will be successful in

the coming years and wish all of them the best.

And finally, there is Houston………to be continued.

May each of you and your families enjoy

a prosperous 2012.

• While you can submit claims against your FSA balance from 2011 for dates of service up to March 15, 2012, your FSAI debit card has been turned off. You will need to pay out of pocket and submit the claim for reimbursement. Please go to the www.myfsai.com website or contact Steve or Anita in HR.

• If you have money left in your Flexible Spending Account from 2011 and you don’t spend it by March 15, 2012, you will lose it.

• You should have received your UMR Flexible Spending card already. If you didn’t, please let Steve or Anita know ASAP.

• If you receive any claims from 2011 or bills from providers, please open them and let us know if you have any questions or concerns if something is wrong.

• You can access the UMR system to find doctors, hospitals or other providers, see the status of your claims, check your FSA balance, and print/view EOBs. Go to www.umr.com for more information and to register.

• Everyone should get a physical this year. Once you get your physical, submit your receipt to HR and receive a $50 Publix gift card.
