PINUGAY PROFILE HISTORY: Barangay Pinugay is the largest and farthest of all the 10 barangays in Baras. The 3,040 hectares is known as “Hacienda Pinugay” while the other 3,000 hectares is called as Marikina Watershed. During the Spanish regime, Pinugay estate was owned by a German National named Porish. It was in 1926 when it was bought by two Japanese named Takashi and Mamura. In 1964, Alfonso Debrunner, also a German national bought it from them. And at that same year, the ownership was transferred to Pablo Roman, Jose Roxas and Jose Cojuangco. On April 14, 1971, Conrado Estrella, Chairman of the National Reform Council proclaimed Hacienda Pinugay as under Land Reform Area (Proclamation #14). It was in 1973 when people residing in the area were given Certificate of Land Transfer. At present, Hacienda Pinugay is divided into four (4) parts: Lot A, Lot B, Lot C and Lot D, having six hundred forty rightful land owners. GEOGRAPHY: Barangay Pinugay is more or less 19 kilometers from Baras town proper with the following boundaries: North: Barangay San Jose, Antipolo City South: Barangay San Salvador, Baras Rizal East: Barangay Tandang Kutyo, Tanay Rizal West: Barangay Dalig, Teresa Rizal It is classified as a rural area with a total land area of 6,059.057 hectares.
