DATES &DEADLINES

ELIGIBILITYArtist over 18 years of age, residing in the continental United

States are eligible. FAMU employees are ineligible to

participate in this competition. Artists may enter up to three

original 2D or 3D works of art. All artwork must be original and

completed without supervision by an instructor in a class or

workshop setting. All artwork must be suitable for professional

presentation. Two dimensional works, when displayed, cannot

exceed 48” in any dimension including frame. The Juror will

select exhibited works from submitted jpegs. The awarded

works of art will be chosen by the juror from the physical work.

No more than one prize will be awarded per individual artist

$500 is awarded to BEST IN SHOW. There are also First,

Second, and Third Place cash awards. Two Honorable Mentions

(NON-CASH AWARD) will be acknowledged at the exhibition

opening.

METHOD OF ENTRY

Artists may submit up to three JPegs via email or on a CD via

mail with the $25 fee. Do not send multiple views of one

artwork. Each JPeg file must be labeled

with artist’s name, title of the work, and year completed.

(Example: Joe Pinnacle - One Winner - 2019). Files must be PC

compatible.

The CD must be labeled with the artist’s name and contact

information. PLEASE DO NOT SEND THUMB DRIVES--they will

not be opened. CDs will not be returned unless a self

addressed stamped envelope (large enough for the CDs) is

submitted for return postage. CDs of accepted work will be

retained by the gallery for publicity purposes.

PRESENTATION / CONDITIONS

All artwork must be professionally presented and “gallery-

ready.” Wall-mounted work should be ready for hanging with

wire. Framed works that need protection should use only

Plexiglas.

SALES

It is optional for exhibiting artists to sell their artwork. Sales are

the responsibility of the Foster-Tanner Fine Arts Gallery, which

will retain 10% of the selling price. For artists who opt to offer

their work for sale, signing the entry form is an agreement of

those conditions.

SHIPPING

Accepted artworks must be sent at the artists’ expense in a

well-packaged, insured, single reusable crate, carton or other

suitable container (without Styrofoam peanuts and no

particle board crates). SHIPMENTS must be sent PREPAID

RETURN SHIPPING or the artwork WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. No

CODs. Detailed delivery and return instructions will be provided

to accepted artists. Failure to deliver art for the

competition accepted by the juror is considered a breech of

ethics and PINNACLE will take action to prevent a reccurance

in future exhibitions. No artwork may be substituted and none

may be removed before the end of the exhibition date.

LIABILITY AGREEMENT

Artwork will be insured according to the insurance value

provided by each selected artist while exhibited. Each

participating artist is responsible for insurance while their

artwork is in transit to and from the Foster Tanner Fine Arts

Gallery. Concerned artists are welcome to carry their own

insurance.
