1 GRATIS Outline for “Ping Pong” I. Goals A. Serve with speed and accuracy B. Return service and rally without hitting the net or going off the court C. Be the first player to reach 11 points D. Win by at least 2 points II. Rules A. The Serve (Service) i. The ball must sit openly in the servers hand and visible to the receiver ii. The ball must be tossed vertically in the air at least 6 inches above the hand prior to being hit, otherwise the opponent receives a point and a new serve begins iii. To be “in play” the service must touch the servers court first iv. To be “in play” the service must bounce in the receivers court v. If the service touches the net and lands in the receivers court, the serve is deemed a “let” vi. A let allows the server to serve a second time vii. If the server has already serviced a second time after a “let”, the opponent receives a point and a new serve begins viii. Each player serves 2 points (see section C) then the service switches to the opposite player B. Rally i. A rally begins when the service is valid (Section A) and the receiver returns the ball ii. The ball must go over the net and land in the opponents court for the rally to continue iii. The rally will continue when the ball touches the net as long as it lands in the receivers court

viii. The!rally!ends!when!either!player!returns!the!ball!and!it!bounces!in!their!court!immediately!after!they!have!struck!it!

C. Points!i. To!win!the!game,!a!player!must!reach!11!points!first!ii. A!player!must!win!by!at!least!2!points!iii. If!each!player!has!10!points,!the!game!will!continue!until!one!

player!has!2!more!points!than!the!other.!!Once!a!player!has!done!so,!they!will!be!deemed!the!victor!

iv. If!the!server!does!not!serve!a!valid!service!(see!Section!A),!the!receiver!is!awarded!1!point!
