CALL TO WORSHIP

Minister: I was glad when they said to me “Let us go into the house of the

Lord!” Our feet shall stand within thy gates, O Jerusalem!

People: For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather

be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the

tents of wickedness.

Minister: Because of the house of the Lord our God, I will seek thy good.

People: Those that be planted in the house of the Lord, shall flourish

in the courts of our God.

Minister: Blessed are they that dwell in thy house. Lord, I have loved thou

habitation, the place where thy honor dwelleth.

People: For the Lord is in his Holy Temple; let all the earth keep

silence before him.

Minister: Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be

acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength and my redeemer.

Unison: O sing to the Lord a new song, for he has done marvelous

things! Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all the earth, sing

praises.

OPENING HYMN

New Generation & Ollie Washington Angel Band Choirs and Congregation

O Thou, in Whose Presence Hymn #83

Verse 1: O Thou in whose presence my soul takes delight,

On whom in affliction I call;

My comfort by day and my song in the night,

My hope, my salvation, my all.

Verse 2: Where dost Thou, dear Shepherd, resort with Thy sheep

To feed them in pastures of love?

Say, why in the valley of death should I weep,

Or alone in this wilderness rove?

Verse 3: O, why should I wander an alien from Thee,

And cry in the desert for bread?

Thy foes will rejoice when my sorrows they see,

And smile at the tears I have shed.

Verse 4: He looks, and ten thousands of angels rejoice,

And myriads wait for His word;

He speaks, and eternity, filled with His voice,

Re-echoes the praise of the Lord.

Verse 5: Dear Shepherd, I hear, and will follow Thy call,

I know the sweet sound of Thy voice;

Restore and defend me, for Thou art my all,

And in Thee I will ever rejoice. Amen

APOSTLES’ CREED (Please Stand)

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ

his only son our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary,

suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead and buried. The third day He arose

from the dead; He ascended into heaven and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father

Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the

Holy Spirit, the universal church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sin, the

resurrection of the body and the life everlasting. Amen.

HYMN………………………………..…………..“From All that Dwell Below the Skies”

From all that dwell below the skies, let the Creator's praise arise;

Let the Redeemer's name be sung through every land by every tongue.

SUMMARY OF THE DECALOGUE

And He said to him, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all

your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And the

second is like it, you shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments

depend all the law and the prophets.

GLORIA PATRI……………………………....…..Hymn #626 “Glory Be to the Father”

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the

beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Lesson One

“A Unifying Walk” Biblical Text: Ephesians 4:1-16

Introduction

What does it mean to be a Christian?

To be a Christian means to think correctly about the will of God and to

live according to the love of God.

The truth of God must find adequate and accurate expression in our

social relationships and our standards for personal behavior.

Paul’s letters provide for us a great deal of doctrinal instruction and

practical application.

Health Tidbit

DIAGNOSTIC TESTING

PROSTATE CANCER can occur in any man, but there are certain “risk groups.”

Younger African American men appear to have twice the risk and fatalities of

Caucasians. Sadly, many are diagnosed before they reach the age of 50.

Another risk group is men who have a family history of prostate cancer, placing them

in the same group who may contract the disease before the age of 50.

The only method to determine whether you are at risk for prostate cancer is diagnostic

testing. The earlier you are screened the higher your chances of survival.

Why take chances? Get yourself screened so you have a benchmark, then have annual

screening.

Remember, prostate cancer is slow growing so the odds are in your favor when

detected early. If you receive a diagnosis of cancer and different treatment options

from your doctor, it would be prudent to get a second opinion. This is a normal

practice and one which can help you make intelligent decisions about the most

important step you may take in your life.

Getting that second opinion may confirm the diagnosis but help you to adjust the

staging and your treatment options. A second opinion may also lead you to a special

clinical trial of new cancer treatments that your current physician is not aware of.

Try and locate a prostate cancer support group in your area. Speaking to other men

who have experienced prostate disease can do wonders in learning how to deal with

your diagnosis and treatment options. Numerous health organizations report that 1 in 6

men will experience prostate cancer. However, if the condition is diagnosed early,

approximately 99.3% of them will survive. The key is early detection.
