Electronic Communications using Web-based Platforms
Stan Hamnett, Webmaster, OEM RACES Webmaster
I have been asked by Don Cox, Director of OEM RACES to give this presentation on how, we as a Team, can best communicate electronically using available web-based tools. I will give you an overview of the tools and then we will discuss each one.
2
We will discuss the following, not necessarily in any particular order.
•Who can upload and download files•Membership lists•Ease of use•Cost
3
• Google• GroupSpaces• OEM CMS• Wiggio• Yahoo
4
• Limited to one email list at at time – per login email address – this applies to all email lists with the exception of Wiggio and Groupspaces, which will be discussed later.• Not as many features as the other
brands• Members upload and download
files
5
Groupspaces• Can handle as many email lists as
needed according to the plan you choose.
• Plans range from Free, to paid • Members can upload and
download files• Track when a person opens email
and if they don’t• Email addresses can be added
via .csv spreadsheet.
6
OEM RACES CMS
• No capability of managing email list
• Only “Authorized personnel” can upload files
• Anyone can download files7
Wiggio• As many lists as desired• Free• Members can upload and
download files• Members can go to website and
read past emails• Email addresses can be added
via .csv spreadsheet.8
Wiggio• Host virtual meetings• Easily add members• Add Subgroups to the Main
Group
9
• Yahoo • Limited to one email list• Any member can upload and
download files• Membership – • By invitation• Ask for membership• No limit to membership10

Electric Principles
VOLTS: electrical tern or electromotive force (EMF) Basic unit of electromotive is measured with a Voltmeter About 12 volts for mobile Radio
Current: Measurement of flow Current is measured in AMPS Measured with AN AMMETER
CURRENT
DIRECT CURRENT: Battery what your car has Normal car 13.8 VDC
Alternating Current: What is in your house
Resistance
Unit of measurement is OHM measured with an ohmmeter
CONDUCTANCE AND RESISTANCE
COPPER is a good electrical conductor
GLASS IS A GOOD INSULATOR
POWER
Power is measured in WATTS This is what the meter on your house is measuring
Power Ratios (DB)
3dB is approximate a change of double (2 to 1)
-6 dB approximate decrease change from 12 to 3 (4to 1)
10 dB approximate (10 to1)
ELECTONIC PRINCIPLES AND COMPONETS
RESISTOR: used to oppose the flow of currentPOTENTIOMER
CAPACITOR Stores energy in electric field The Farad is the unit of measurement
Inductor (coil) stores energy in a magnetic field called inductance and measured in Henery’s
Parts
A SWITCH A component to disconnect or connect FUSE component to protect circuit components
Batteries CARBON-ZINE are non rechargeable and produce about 1.5 volts
NiCad batteries are declarable and produce about 1.2 V
Parts are PartsDiode allows current to flow in only one direction ANDOD and CATHODE are the electrical parts and the cathode is usually identified with a Stripe
TRANSISTORS used to control current flow GAIN term to describe transistors ability to amplify
FET FIELD EFFECT TRANSISTOR is a transistor with a gat electrode
LED) LIGHT EMITTING DIOD
A RECTIE changes AC to into varying direct current
