Piezosurgery is known as a device used in external sinus lifts for many years. It is surprising that the most use of this device is for extractions. Especially for endodontically treated roots or broken root fragments the use of Piezosurgery leads to a time-efficient and atraumatic extraction where most of the extraction socket can be preserved. In delicate areas as close to the mental nerve or the mandibular canal the Piezosurgery technique is the safest option for an extraction. The management of the post-extraction socket is still in controversial discussion among experts. The socket preservation using Bio-Oss Collagen placed straight after the extraction in the extraction socket is a straight forward and predictable method. Clinical studies show that in most cases the bone and soft-tissue volume could be maintained. The course objective is to introduce the Piezosurgery technique in various clinical modalities and the presentation and practicing of extraction socket preservation. Beside scientific data the focus is on the clinical and practical aspects supported by step-by-step presentations and videos followed by a hands-on part where participants have the possibility to practice the presented treatment concepts on human mandibles. LEADING REGENERATION Practitioners will have the unique opportunity to “Develop their skills“ both theoretical and practical, in the company of Swiss-trained and educated Dr. Dimosthenis Mantokoudis and Geistlich Biomaterials, the Leaders in Dental Bone and Tissue regeneration. GBR Hands-on CourseGBR and implant placement with membranes and meshes in the atrophic ridges.

Presenter: Prof. Carlo Maiorana (Italy)

The use of biomaterials in implantology is nowadays a very common procedure, since the concept of prosthetically guided implantology has been introduced in the daily practice. Peri-implant bony defects, vertical and horizontal bone ridge augmentation can be performed with bone substitutes in association with autogenous chips and membranes, without forgetting that an accurate soft tissue management has to be carried out in order to guarantee a final good aesthetic result. Clinical cases of the treatment of the different defects will be shown in the light of the current literature trends followed by a hands-on part where participants have the possibility to practice the presented treatment concepts on pig’s mandibles.
