Golf

Pierce County in Western Washington is your home for public golf. Our golf courses offer a variety of settings for every taste and style. From tree-lined courses to open green spaces and smooth rolling greens overlooking the Puget Sound, our golf courses are the most diverse in Washington.

Whether seeking a quick round in the peaceful setting at our 9-hole course at Fort Steilacoom or wanting to tackle championship courses like Lake Spanaway, site of the Puget Sound Amateur since 1967 or Chambers Bay, host of the 2010 U.S. Amateur and 2015 U.S. Men’s Open, Pierce County has something for every skill and challenge level.

Discover pure links golf while immersing yourself in panoramic views of the Puget Sound and Olympic Mountains. As the site of the 2010 U.S. Amateur and the 2015 U.S. Open, Chambers Bay was designed to challenge the greatest players in the world. Yet it’s a course that anyone can play. Inspired by the open landscape and spectacular location, renowned architect Robert Trent Jones II remained true to links tradition by creating a unique and authentic waterfront course which provides a premium public golf experience.

Community Champion Annual Pass Program: Our Community Champion program allows unlimited golf. Played by champions, designed for players of all abilities. Membership is limited. Call for annual pass pricing.

Golf Lessons: Whether looking for focused one-on-one instruction, or be more comfortable in an informal group setting, there is something for everyone to take your enjoyment of the game to new heights while bringing your scores to their lowest. For more information, call PGA Instructor Brent Zepp.

Driving Range: Open year round approx. one hour after sunrise until one hour before sunset, featuring all grass tees and short game area. $25 for daily pass.

Caddie Fees: The use of a caddie is not required, but recommended for maximum enjoyment of the Chambers Bay experience. Suggested caddie bag fees for caddies participating in the Chambers Bay caddie program are $50/single bag, $100/double bag and $60 for a forecaddie. Bag fees and gratuities are paid directly to the caddie. The amount of any gratuity is determined at the sole discretion of the guest.

As the first course in the Pacific Northwest to earn the Audubon Society’s coveted International Silver Signature Sanctuary des-ignation, Chambers Bay is creating a new tradition of managing and protecting water quality and wildlife habitat for the better-ment of the environment and the future of the game.

Chambers Bay is a championship course that anyone can play. With towering sand dunes, massive fairways and contoured greens, it provides a true connection to the birthplace of the game. A par 72, walking-only course, Chambers Bay stretches from 5,100 to 7,585 yards on fescue turf from tee to green.

Experienced, knowledgeable caddies are available to carry your bag and lower your score with their advice. A practice facility offers players the chance to improve their skills at the driving range and short game area. A staff of PGA Professionals is available for instruction and private lessons.

One of the first social settings that children encounter is being a guest. Learning how to be a gracious guest, guest of honor, or host, are skills they will use life-long.
