PIERALISI centrifugal vertical separators are ideally suited to separation of suspended particles from a liquid, they combine very high rotation speed, a unique design and special materials.

They generate a very high centrifugal force which, when used for decantation on thin layers, ensures a high quality product.

In oenology they are applied to clarify wine as the taste and stability depend on wine clarification.

Particularly, turbid young wines, which are difficult to be clarified by other methods, can be easily clarified with the centrifugal separator.

They can be used for wines or musts.

• They improve the product quality: they stabilize the color, avoid the development of volatile acidity and keep the organoleptic characteristics.

• An hydro hermetic device installed inside the bowl avoids contamina-tion of the treated liquid with the external environment eliminating possible oxidation or gas leaks.

• They improve filtration and reduce the cost of clarification without any additional additive.

• They are designed to fit in the CIP (cleaning in place) washing and sanitizing system, to ensure the absolute highest levels of hygiene.

• They enhance the product, increasing its value and facilitating marketing and export opportunities.

The decanter technology is the physical process in which suspensions and emulsions (and combinations) are subject to the gravitational force: the process is carried out either using earth gravity or a centrifuge. Applying the gravitational force, the droplets and / or particles reach the decanting velocity and go straight to the bottom / walls of the tank / bowl of the centrifuge.

conical top-end of the vertical shaft. The processing liquid is fed into the centre of the bowl through the stationary feed pipe.Subsequently the inflow is accelerated by means of specially-designed accelerators, forced in the first instance to the periphery of the bowl, and then through the discs where multi-layer separation takes place.

The separated liquid(s) flow to the top of the bowl where they are discharged by overflow or by

centripetal pumps. The solids captured via the described settling process are collected at the periphery of the bowl, and then discharged intermittently. This discharge is activated by a hydraulic system located underneath the separation area.

In essence, the solids are discharged via openings at the periphery of the bowl which are opened and closed by the down-and upwards movement of either a sliding piston or bowl bottom.

Thousands of “g”s are produced in the bowl of the Disc Vertical Separator, the centrifugal force being the product of the high rotational speed and the large size of the bowl. The rotation is generated by an electric motor connected to the horizontal shaft by means of an elastic coupling or clutch. Thanks to the gear ratio produced by specially-designed gears, the movement is transferred to the vertical shaft. The bowl is assembled on the

The decanter is versatile because it treats, as alternative to the destemmed grapes, the usual must lees and the clarification deposits offering therefore new economic advantages.

It is a modern and innovative machine, which limits the power consumption and does not create environmental problems.

It is compact and takes up little space, it is automatic and, at the same time, simple in operation, low maintenance and easy to clean.
