One of the most known and hard to miss sculptures in Downtown Indianapolis would be the Soldiers and Sailors Monument. It was built in 1962 to honor the Hoosiers who were veterans in the Civil War. Seasonal AttractionsEvery year during Christmas one of the biggest events takes place in downtown Indianapolis, Circle of the Lights Festival. The Friday after Thanksgiving thousands of Christmas lights are strung from the top of the monument, making it one of the biggest Christmas trees in America. Also during this time of year all of the trees surrounding the monument are also strung with lights.
