PICTURE THIS...

The six-year-olds in the ballet class wander into the room by twos and threes, chattering between themselves, laughing and pointing at each other, spinning practice pirouettes before landing on their bums. They’re excited to be here, happy to be moving their bodies, and run to their teacher when she walks into the room.

An hour later, a mixed group of boys and girls are learning a new hip hop move. The middle school students are easily embarrassed when they make a mistake, but their teacher encourages them anyway, and before long, all the students are learning the new combination and having fun. The music is contagious; even as you walk past the studio, you can’t help but bob your head in rhythm, and tap your toes.

Later on, the older teenagers show up. As they enter the room, they also laugh and talk with each other, but they are more subdued than the little girls were. They’re more serious. By this time, these young women and men have been dancing nearly their entire lives. They’ve learned the discipline they need in order to get progressively better. And they’ve learned that in a group performance, everyone’s best effort is necessary or the whole thing looks bad. After practicing their routine without music, when the music is added, you can see the smiles break out as they demonstrate how masterfully they’ve learned their parts!

STUDIOINFO KIT!

The Monkey Movers classes are designed to give young children a chance to experience the joy of dance, music, and creative movement. The class allows a parent or guardian to participate with their little one, and offers a great opportunity to bond and learn together. Children will enhance both fine and large motor skills by dancing, singing, and use of handheld props. Get ready to shake, jump, fly, spin, clap, and so much more in these fun and interactive classes!

Our Monkey Movers program is targeted to our youngest students (around 16 months-2 years) who want to build a foundation in movement and music in a fun and loving atmosphere. Focused on enjoying the fun and creativity of dance, this is a non-recital class.

Dance, Sing & Play - Giggle Toes

This combination class introduces basic Ballet and Tumbling using creative methods to develop skills and imagination. Students are taught physical awareness, balance, rhythm, learning readiness, creative expression, and dance etiquette, all while having a great time moving and grooving to the music.

The Giggle Toes curriculum is focused on students between the ages of 2 and 3 who are new to dance, or who have previously attended our Monkey Movers classes. This class is a great choice if you have a little one who already loves to move to the music, or if you’d like to give them the opportunity to develop confidence and a passion for dance. This is a non-recital class.

Bebop DanceTumble , Funky & Fun

Bebop dance is an Acro/Hip hop Dance combo which is a fun way for our students to explore dance and acrobatics! The focus of this program includes learning the beginner acro positions, locomotive skills (jumping, hoping, etc), and balancing skills which prepares dancers for mixing Hip hop dance and tumbling! As with our other preschool classes, students enrolled in this program will also learn classroom behavior skills, movement concepts, and group cooperation. We provide a safe classroom environment with a variety of mats and acro equipment. All of our instructors are certified through Acrobatic Arts.

The Princess Ballerinas® Dance Program is a unique and memorable combo dance class experience for little ballerinas using imaginative, theme-based classes. The Princess Ballerinas® Dance Program will create a special and inspiring experience for your child.

In the Mini Starz program, curriculum begins to focus on the basics of each style of dance at an appropriate style and pace for the development of our younger dancers. In each class, students will develop a sense of the aesthetic, technique, and feel that accompanies each genre of dance, all while being provided with a fun and nurturing environment for them to grow within. Currently, the Mini program is offered for Ballet, Lyrical, Tap, Jazz, Broadway Jazz, and Hip Hop.

The Mini program is specifically targeted to students around 5 and 7 years of age who have already gone through our Creative and Kinder programs, or who have demonstrated the ability to develop fine and gross motor skills and to learn in a group environment. These classes are a great choice if you’d like to give your little one the opportunity more about specific styles of dance, all while improving coordination and confidence in an enjoyable atmosphere. All students will have the opportunity to participate in our end of the year recital.

Dance is definitely NOT just for girls! LHQ has classes just for guys. Also many of the classes are mixed with boys & girls. Currently all boys Hip hop.

This is just another day at LHQ Dance Force Studio!
