When people talk about Rwanda they often think about the terrible fighting in 1994 which lasted 100 days.

Many, many people lost their lives. They are remembered in Kigali at ‘The Wall of names’.

Rwanda is now at peace. Since the fighting people have worked very hard to rebuild their lives. But many people still live in poverty. Around 4 in 10 people live on less than $1 a day.

That’s about 65p.
