13 December 2019 Dear Parents/Carers What wonderful news to hear that our Christmas Fair raised almost £2000 which will be doubled with matched funding. Thank you all again for supporting this event but a massive thank you to our PTA (Catherine, Wilson, Alison and Marilyn) for exceeding our expectations with such a brilliant amount of money. This is such a great piece of news as we near the end of term. We have also been successful with bids for our sensory room and outdoor spaces, so it was a lucky week and our pupils are going to have their learning enriched further. Next week is our Christmas week and we hope you will join us at our annual Church service at 11am at Pilrig church. This is always a special time and it is lovely to share this with you all. Key advice for parents and carers

In the home the risk of catching or spreading flu/cold like illness can be reduced by:

Regular hand washing with liquid soap and running water Covering nose and mouth when coughing or sneezing Using a disposable paper tissue, disposed off immediately

after use. You can teach your child to sneeze into the ‘crook’ of

their arm rather than their hands, if they don’t have a tissue. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mQINuSTP1jI

Good general cleaning of surface that everyone touches often e.g. TV remote, light switches, door handles, toilet flushes and tap heads.

Children should not return to school until completely well and 48 hours after symptoms have stopped.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thistle Foundation is working in partnership with Pilrig Park school to help young people to prepare to move from school into adult life.

We have been using drama sessions to help young people to think creatively about what comes next when they leave school.

BIRDS OF PARADISE THEATRE

For the last seven weeks, a small group have been enjoying workshops with the Birds of Paradise Theatre Company. Robert, Max and Mairi have shown us all how to play new games, draw pictures of each other, design our perfect school and do some acting! We have all had a great time and hope to work with Birds Of Paradise in the future. Lewis, Jonathan, Vaiba, Reece, Dylan and Niamh deserve a bid medal for taking part, so enthusiastically!!

FIZZY JUICE IN SCHOOL

Just a reminder that we do not allow cans / bottles of fizzy juice (eg. Coke or Irn Bru) in school. Please do not provide this for your child as a drink at Break time as it will possibly be confiscated, and the juice returned home at the end of the day. We can provide water for your child and milk is also available. Thank you for your co-operation in this matter.
