History of JPTA
How can I work as a PT in Japan? You must pass the National Physical Therapy Examination. In order to be approved to take the exam, you must first be confirmed by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare as a candidate. This requires documentation indicating that the candidate has received an equivalent of or higher level of education than Japanese physical therapy schools. In terms of language ability, candidates must pass the Japanese Language Proficiency Test Level N1, if they have not graduated from Japanese junior or high school.
Do People Have Direct Access to Physical Therapy Services in Japan?No, they don't. Under Japanese law, a prescription or referral from a physician is needed to see physical therapists. To operate a private clinic where the treatment is labeled as "Physical Therapy" with services rendered by a "Physical Therapist" is also prohibited.Physical Therapy was initiated by
the support of WHO members.
JPTA became a Public Interest Incorporated Association.
Japanese Physical Therapy Association was established and held its firstAcademic conference.

1. JPTA financially and materially supports Physical Therapyweek which consists of events held around the country.
2. We participate in government activities supporting the health and welfare of the population.
3. To deal with the aging population, JPTA offers workshops on preventive care and works to inform all able and disabled people about how PT can treat your problems.
4. JPTA contributes to health, wellness and fitness internationally.
JPTA contributes about 21.3% of gross membership fee to WCPT.
