Let’s practice our note taking skills …

With the following slides, take notes on the various

countries! Remember …

USE SHORTCUTS!!

Page 6: Physical & Political Maps of East Asia

Although one of the smallest countries of southern Asia, it is one of the wealthiest! The Sultan of Brunei is known for his great wealth! Brunei citizens have a high standard of living, with free medical services and education. Students can even attend foreign universities for free! The wealth comes from petroleum and natural gas reserves off its coast. However, these reserves are expected to run out in the early 2000’s; therefore, Brunei must develop other means of income.

With a population of over 4 million and only

225 square miles, Singapore is one of the world’s most densely populated countries!

Singapore has 4 official languages, one of the highest literary rates in southern Asia (91%), and is one of the most prosperous countries in southern Asia. Singapore is made up of one large island, also called Singapore, and 50 smaller islands, about half being uninhabited.

Page 17: Physical & Political Maps of East Asia

Although one of the most densely populated cities in the world, Singapore remains one of the cleanest cities in the world! How? Strict laws!
