Example’s of Photoshop.

Star persona constructedAlthough many believe that a celebrities appearance is only enhanced through make up and cosmetic surgery, it is a common fact that even if you’re the most beautiful model, chances are you’re going to be photo shopped. In a recent TED talk by Cameron Russell, she speaks about the fact that models will be photo shopped, and it’s unlikely that you can do anything about it.

However, there has been many campaigns to battle the effects of Photoshop, such as that of Iskra Lawrence who modelled for the campaign ‘everyBODY is beautiful’.

Photoshop has also caused lots of controversy and taken a lot of space in the media, such as that of Justin Bieber and his Calvin Klein campaign. After the original pictures were leaked, fan’s saw that they had enlarged his arms and crotch area. Fan’s backlashed at Justin, even though it was the editors who had edited the pictures, which is the same for many stars, such as that as Beyoncé, as fans feel they have been lied to.

Photoshop research In order to grasp a full understanding of Photoshop and it’s effects, I will research into how to edit a picture, using Photoshop. I will be doing this through the use of a YouTube tutorial.

With my own magazine cover, It will be unlikely that I will Photoshop the models body or looks, as I want the persona of my model to be raw and real, instead of edited. However, I may edit the background of my image, which is why I am researching into this process.

Step one: I uploaded the white background and the original picture that I wanted to edit.

Step two: I used the tool highlighted to cut out the part of the image I wanted

Step three: I dragged the tool across the part of the image I wanted to cut out.

Step four: I opened a white background and then using the clicker tool, I dragged the cut out part of the image onto the white image.

The final image. As a result of this research, I can now try out different looks for the cover page, contents page and double page spread, and, make it more technologically advanced.
