Contents page Double page spread

Cover PageMain image of my cover page is going to be a long shot of a female character. She will be wearing Dr. Martens, dark blue jeans, a nude top and a black denim jacket over one shoulder. She will also be wearing big round earrings, to give her a look of a famous person. Her hair will be messy and she will have full face of makeup. She will be squatting and holding an electronic guitar, as she is an indie/rock star. She will be facing the camera and using direct eye contact, in order to invite the audience and feel them welcome to buy the magazine. The character will not be smiling, instead she will be pulling straight serious face. I want her to look careless in the picture, in order to appeal to the young audience. This photograph will be a studio shot, this is as most cover page magazines use this and it will allow me to change the background of the page, which i definitely will do as I want my background to be a plain colour.

Cover PageI am going to have three other sub-images on the cover page. I do not want my magazine to have a lot of images on the cover page as it might appear unprofessional, so I will rather only use a small number of images, just to make the page a bit more interesting and appealing. Two of these images will be of other artists, however their outfit and look is not important, as it will be only a very small image that will show nothing but their faces. The last small picture will be showing an item that readers can win in a competition. All these images will be studio shots, as I wish to remove their backgrounds and using green screen in a studio is the easiest way to do this.

I might also include some interesting shapes that I will design in Photoshop, using them as flashers, in order to catch the eye of a reader quickly and make my magazine appear very creative and appealing to the young audience.

However, depending on the layout of my cover page, I will not use any of these pictures, if I will choose the layout number one and I might use some of these images on my contents page.

Contents PageMain image of my contents page is going to be a mid shot of a male character. He will be wearing a plain black t-shirt and he will be seductively looking into camera, in order to invite the female audience, as most of my readers are women. This photo will be a studio shot, as I wish to make the background of the photo transparent, so that the photo will be showing only the character and nothing else, that could distract the audience from looking at him.

So that my magazine is professional, I will have to make a logo of my company. My logo will be an ear, with no piercings or anything, as it is the name of my magazine. Also, next to the top articles listed on the contents page of each issue I will place a small logo of my magazine, in order to show my readers which articles are the “best” ones of the issue, so that they find them more easily and quickly.

Contents PageI will be using three sub-images as props. This is as I want to reinforce that this magazine is about music and not just about the characters. One of the images will be of items that can be won in a running competition (band t-shirts). Also, one of my “regulars” will be called “on repeat” and it will be showing monthly favourites (albums, songs, artists, gigs, concerts or festivals). Therefore the contents page of this issue, I will include a picture of an iPhone playing the album of the week, as a teaser for the actual article. I will include an image taken at a concert I have been to, in order to give a realistic effect to my magazine, as most of the pictures will be studio shots.

Double Page SpreadThe main image on my double page spread will be a close up on the artist’s face. Hundreds of these pictures will be in the masthead of the double page. This will be done in order to make the pages more interesting and original as well as it will give a close up on the artists’s face and therefore make the audience gets to know the artist better. This image will be a studio shot, as I wish to remove the background.

A small logo of my magazine will be placed in the right top corner of the double page, signifying this article is one of the most important of this issue. I will place in the top right, so that reader can find it easier and quicker when browsing through the magazine.

I will include three smaller images. These images will be taken all outside the studio and will be showing artist’s hobbies and how she spends her free time, in order to give the readers an insight into her personal life.
