Unit G321 – Foundation Portfolio in Media – Photo-shoot Plan Project title: Bail Front Cover Photographs Project: 4 Page Music Magazine Spread Project Description: This project consists of creating a 4 page magazine spread in a genre of my choice, I chose hip-hop / rap. These pages consist of a front cover, contents page and a double page spread. Due to the nature of my magazine of inspiration I will also be creating an editorial page. The target readership for my magazine would be mainly males between the ages of 16-24 who enjoy listening to hip-hop/rap music. The reason why I chose the name ‘Bail’ for my magazine is because there are a lot of meanings to ‘Bail’. It is most commonly used as a term in order to pay for someone’s release from police custody as a promise to turn up to court. However, in my terms for my magazine, it could be to ‘Bail’ the readers from their boring lifestyle and read something interesting that will get them excited about the genre again. Photographer: I will be the photographer I will most likely be using a low angle shot in order to make the model look more 'powerful'. Similarly, the lighting will be low key (dark)which could perceive the rappers background. If I was to apply effects to the images after taking them it would most likely only be a very subtle glow around the image.

Project title: Bail Front Cover Photographs

Project: 4 Page Music Magazine Spread

Project Description: This project consists of creating a 4 page magazine spread in a genre of my choice, I chose hip-hop / rap.

Photographer:

I will be the photographer I will most likely be using a low angle shot in order to make the model

look more 'powerful'. Similarly, the lighting will be low key (dark)which could perceive the

rappers background. If I was to apply effects to the images after taking them it would most

likely only be a very subtle glow around the image.

Casting:

I will most likely use Jack, who is seen in the first picture to be my star on my magazine. This is because he looks most like a stereotypical rapper and would fit the role great.

Model requirements:

The model does not need to be very tall, as the low angle camera shot should make them look taller and more intimidating.

They could be crouching down closer towards the camera, looking straight towards it with a straight or 'aggressive' facial expression.

If they are not crouching down they should be standing up-right or with some sort of an ‘aggressive’ posture.

Wardrobe and Look:

Snap Back - Worn usually by the younger rappers, can be seen in many different music videos or magazines.

Gold Chains / Necklace - Again seen being worn by rapper such as Eminem and Dre on the covers of XXL and Vibe.

Hoodie / Tank Top - A lot of rappers are seen on the front covers of magazines either wearing a hoodie (Like Snoop Lion) or a tank top (Like

Unit G321 – Foundation Portfolio in Media – Photo-shoot Plan50 Cent or Eminem)

Hair and Make-up:

There may the possibility to use some fake tattoos if needed. It would be preferred not to as it would look low quality if drawn on.

Tattoos can be photo-shopped onto the image, as these will look much better quality.

They do not need any specific hair style or make up either.

Where:

The chances are the shoot will take place in a room with white walls. I have decided this because I do not want an actual background for my front cover and I can easily Photoshop the image better than if it was against a brick wall.

When:

The photo-shoot will take place on Thursday 20th November from around 3:05 to about 4:30.
