I was born in 1975 in Bangkok, Thailand. I'm Iranian and I live in Tehran, Iran. I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Photography and a Master's Degree in Animation.

After finishing my university studies I have been mainly active in the field of Animation but I always had a passion for photography and it's just recently that I had a chance to persuade photography more seriously.

My preferred photography styles are Creative Editing and Conceptual which started the first time I was introduced to Jerry Uelsmann works.

I was born and raised in a small town in the mountains of Saxony in

Germany and now I live in County Galway / Ireland. I am hooked to

photography for over 15 years now. It all began with an old SLR

(a "Praktika") my Grandfather gave me. I started to photograph

flowers, landscapes and ruins. In order to gain better control over my

art, I bought gradually the equipment for my own darkroom, which I

then set up in my first apartment’s bathroom, I was completely

thrilled with the possibilities to create my own perfect dream world.

Six years ago I switched to digital SLR. It was not easy for me

because of all the work and time invested in analog photography but it

took not long until I started appreciating all the new possibilities.

Nowadays I spend many hours daily in front of my computer, building my

own world of imagination.

Everything I know about photography, I taught myself. I started with

simple static motives. Thereby I learned a lot about the right light.

Later I took self-portraits which gave me a better understanding how

to allegorize different facial expression and gestures.

Each of my photos derived from a story that developed in my mind and

this story continues after the photo was taken. They are little

excerpts of my thoughts which I try to reflect in this way. It's not

important for me to show reality. I want to show my world of fantasy

and wishes. My moods, feelings, dreams and aspirations are components

in all my photos. You could call me a daydreamer. I often digress with

my thoughts towards far and surreal places where I am the Queen and

this world develops itself further with every thought of mine.

I'm fascinated of humans with interesting faces and their emotions and

expressions. Every face is unique and the same face can look totally

different in varying scenarios.

I find inspiration for my "dream-stories" in a lot of things like

music, books, films, conversations, faces and so on. I have a little

book where I write my ideas down. There are countless ideas which I

want to realize but there is barely time to finalise them all.

Miss Vannda´s final call © Lotta Van Droom

Under normal circumstances my photoshootings are precisely planned and

prepared. That means that I arrange the setting beforehand to test how

things will appear. But of course there are at times photos which

arise spontaneous. Mostly this happens when I try to photograph chil-

dren or animals.

I flesh out my ideas with attention to detail. The preparation for a

photoshooting can take a few days.

Styling can also require a few hours. But the most time I spend with

post-processing. I prefer to work in studio environment because there

I can adjust the light according to my priorities and don't have to

prepare for contingencies.

I find my models amongst my friends, on the streets or on Internet

model-pages. I´m always open for new and interesting faces.

I was born 1967 in a small village in Franconia. Since many years I am

earning my living as a systems-programmer at IBM Mainframes. As an

outlet for my creative ambitions and after some experimenting with

charcoal and pastels, I discovered for myself, a few years ago, that

photography did it for me. Normally I do not accept any orders but take

pictures depending on my mood and only for my own pleasure. For me

photography should be fun and it is a perfect escape from my everyday

life. I started working 3 years ago with a Canon EOS 5D Mark II.

This was for me the initial spark and since that day I would describe

myself as a junkie.

Sometimes I wonder if I should have studied photography and if that

would have resulted in me making better and /or other pictures. On the

other hand, as an autodidact I have perhaps another, unbiased approach

and more fun because I am always discovering new things and also

developing myself. Probably I should invest more energy in digital image

processing! But when a picture forms itself first in my head, I am often

too impatient to implement this elaborately or to sit long in front of a

PC. The finished picture is for that reason often just a rudimentary

version of my virtual sketches. But because now I know that my idea

works (or sometimes also not), I am also completely satisfied with it.

Power of images and their combinations. Therefore all kinds of diversions.

As well in music, sounds or films. Playing with elements, to make it mine.

In Collage, I like to watch every picture as the point of departure for a

story. Various durations, gathered in one. to evoke a fake history or

inspire nostalgia for a period in time that never truly existed.

Sometimes further to a decision. Mostly random.

the obsession of collecting disparate images from books, old magazines and

other found material becomes as much a part of the emerging image as the

mark-making. A piece often becomes about the search and desire to combine

those emergent narrative symbols that seem charged with a familiar yet

distant emotion.

When successful, all the elements fall together with irony and tension

while all other realities are obliterated, leaving the viewer as

participant inside the picture, with his own codes and connections.

The image then carries the weight of a personal reality.

Most important, the final image actually gains a significant evocative

quality I could not have expressed in any other way.

Blending classical photography and graphic design, reality and

fiction, Baptiste Fallon lets the child within express his dreams,

his fears, and reveal his vision of the world. Through childhood

fantasy, the French artist begs adults for awareness.

I am in love with nature, and try to capture this emotion into

pictures, as Earth is to me the greater inspiration source.

Through my photographies and montages, I try to point-out what makes

our planet so unique and fragile.

I add a layer of graphic design to digitally create probable or

surrealistic consequences of human impact, so that the audience can

probe into my pictures and hopefully realize what is at stake if we

don't react.

Rainy Days © Nikolina Petolas

Nikolina is a fine-art photographer and visual artist. She was born in

1978 in Zagreb, Croatia.

She expresses her eerie visions through screenshots of an imagined story

where she guides the viewer on a journey through the frames and visual

interpretations of her fictional worlds.

Inspired by sci-fi and fantasy environments as well as experimental music

she enjoyes creating strange surroundings and atmospheres filled with

mysterious events and characters.

Her motives are sometimes dark and gloomy and often present dreamlike

ambients and monstruous creatures. She personifies them with her state of

consciousness, inner conflicts and excessive dreamy nature.

She finds inspiration in her surroundings as well as her vivid dreams and

loves to give them surreal meanings. She found the way to present her

daydreaming in a realistic manner, through genuine photographic textures

and authentic components.

Nikolina uses photography as a main tool for her artworks, although she

often combines it with other digital techinques. She takes photos on a

daily basis and has an immense database from which she chooses the ones

that are appropriate for her artworks. She then combines specific

photographic fragments into complex montage until she gets a realistic

scenery.

She often uses self portraits as characters within her visual stories and

therefore becomes an interactive narrator, a storyteller who guides a

viewer through her fantasy landscapes.

It may happen that you completely ignore something, like photography, for

40 years and then you figure out you can not live without! This is what

happened to me and even if it can look weird, I truly think everything

comes at the right time in life.

I bougth my first camera 2 years ago, moved from the need to see my ideas

became real, and I took a photography class to learn how to actually use,

and this class changed my life.

Inspired from the Artwork of Masters like Ansel Adams and Jeanloup Sieff,

I could not do anything else than approach to the black and white. In a

blink I was looking around me and thinking in gray-scales.

This is what I am today, I’m proud of my artworks and of my creative and

experimental life’s paths and I know I still have a lot to tell about me

because this is only the beginning of a long path.

My art is made of passion, introspection, experimentation and

Photography is bring people to your own world…and here is mine!E q u i l i b r i u m
