ForthePhotoStoryassignment,youwillusephotosandtexttocreateashortvisualstory.WHYPHOTOSTORIES?
Photostoriesprovideacreativeandhandsonwayforchildrentolearnconceptsandskills.Photostoriescanbeusedtofosterliteracyskills(writing,oralcommunication),learncontent(e.g.practicevocabularyincurricularareas),andpracticesocialskills(bymakingstoriesaboutoneselfengaginginpositivebehaviors).VisitthePhotoStoryAssignmentwebsite*toseeexamplesofphotostoriesmadebystudentsinpriorclasses.Theprocessofcreatingphotosstoriescanbeadaptedforstudentsofvaryingagesandabilities.Youcancreateasimplestorywithjustphotosandtextoryoucan
makeastorymoreinterestingandcomplexbyaddingaudioandmusic.Photostoriescanbeengagingtostudentsofallages.Photostoriescanalsobelinkedtoacademicandbehavioralgoalsforstudents.Ateachercanguidethestudenttomakestoriesthataddressskillorcontentthatthechildislearning.Theprocessofcreatingthesestoriesisimportant.Itgivesstudentstheopportunitytoorganizeandexpressinformationindifferentwaysandtobeself-directedwiththeirlearning.
YOURPHOTOSTORYASSIGNMENTMakeastoryfromastudent’sperspectiveorcreateastoryfromyourownperspective.Thephotostoryshouldincludesomecontentthathasmeaning/valueforthestudentsyoumightmakethesestoriesfororwith.Thebasicrequirementsforyourdigitalphotostoryare:1) Useaminimumof10pictures(e.g.,digitalpictures,downloadedphotos,yourownart,etc.)2) AddTEXTtotellastoryofsomesort
• Ifyouteachyoungchildren,youcanmakeastorythatwouldbeinstructionalandengagingforastudentorforagroupofstudentsyouteach
• Ifyouteacholderchildren,youcanmakeastorythatcanserveasamodelforaprojectthatyourstudentsmightmakeindependently.
