Jakob Fichert is a very sought after performer playing solo and chamber music recitals in the UK, Germany, Italy, Hungary, Lithuania and other European countries. Jakob has performed in venues such as the Queen Elizabeth Hall, the Purcell Room, the Wigmore Hall, the Cadogan Hall, the Fairfield Hall in Croydon, the Colston Hall in Bristol and the Recital Hall of the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. Some of his concerts have been live broadcast by various radio stations. He has recorded for Toccata Classics and for Naxos labels. Fichert studied at the Musikhochschule Karlsruhe with Wolfgang Manz, graduating with Distinction before undertaking a postgraduate course at the Royal College of Music (RCM), studying with Yonty Solomon. He obtained a Masters Degree in Chamber Music and stayed on as a Junior Fellow at the RCM until 2003. Jakob has been collaborating with numerous singers and instrumentalists such as Janet Hilton, Helen-Jane Howells, Tamsin Waley-Cohen, Oliver Coates and the Manus Ensemble. Furthermore he has been involved in various projects giving lecture recitals on the subject of piano and chamber works by Max Reger and initiating contemporary music recitals, combining established 20 th century composers with newly commissioned works for solo piano and chamber ensembles. Fichert has won numerous prizes at international competitions both as a soloist and chamber musician. These include the Valentino Bucchi International Piano Competition for 20 th century music in Rome, the Liza Fuchsowa Memorial Prize at the Royal-Over-Seas-League – best chamber music pianist, and the International Taneev Chamber Music Competition in Kaluga and Moscow. A keen pedagogue, Jakob has given numerous master classes in high profile independent and music specialist schools. He also works as an examiner for the Associated Board of Royal Schools of Music and has been appointed lecturer for piano accompaniment at Leeds College of Music in spring 2011. Jakob has performed with Vicky Yannoula, the Founder & Director of Akouson Classical, on numerous occasions and a CD with their interpre- tation of the complete original works for two pianos and piano duet as well as a first recording of the 9 th Symphony by Shostakovitch in his own version for piano duet will be released on Toccata Classics in the summer of 2011. www.jakobfichert.com www.akouson-classical.com/profile/jakobfichert Yuri Zhislin was recently described by the Strad magazine as "a musician with a lyrical talent and a truly Romantic temperament”. Born in 1974 into the musical family of well- known Russian violinist Grigori Zhislin, Yuri began studying the violin in his native Moscow and later continued his studies at the Royal College of Music in London. Yuri became the BBC Radio Two Young Musician of the Year in 1993. Zhislin has given recitals and performed in concerts with numerous orchestras throughout Europe, the USA, South America, Japan, Australia and New Zealand. Recent appearances in London have included recitals at the Wigmore Hall and King's Place and a performance of the Glazunov Concerto at St. John's Smith Square. In high demand as a chamber musician, Yuri regularly appears both on the violin and the viola at festivals around the world. His chamber music partners have included Maria Joao Pires, Dmitry Sitkovetsky, Michael Collins, Natalie Clein, Chloe Hanslip and Ashley Wass. Yuri appears in duo concerts in Europe, Japan and New Zealand with his wife, the outstanding Russian violinist Natalia Lomeiko. Their joint CD for Naxos was released in 2010. Yuri is the Founder and Artistic Director of the Russian Virtuosi of Europe, an ensemble that brings together some of the finest young Russian musicians based in Western Europe. The ensemble gave its successful Wigmore Hall debut concert in 2004 and has since enjoyed a series of concerts and tours throughout Europe and South America, which have received en- thusiastic reviews in the media. Zhislin is currently a professor of violin and viola at the Royal College of Music in London and gives masterclasses in Bulgaria, Spain, Holland, Sweden and Japan.
