The Photo Album of James Henry Fortescue

James Henry Fortescue (1827 –1905), the son of James Fortescue of Longstowe, Cambridgeshire and Mary West, lived mainly in London and at Stroud House, Freshwater in the Isle of Wight. He married Emma Elizabeth Maton Knapp in 1846 and they had 10 children before she died in 1891. In 1896, when he was 69, he married Ann Evans. They were married in South Stoneham near Southampton and he spent his last years living there. His Photo Album contains many photos of his children and descendents who lived in England and Australia. It is bound in black calf with three embossed hinges on the front and back. It has been rebacked and repaired by the owner Rus Fortescue of Sydney: one of his great grandsons.
