Fun with Phonics!Ever wonder what your

child does during “Phonics” time? I

believe in a varied approach, as different things work best for

different children. Here are some examples of

what we do in class during “Phonics”!

We brainstorm things that we know start with that sound and then we make

our class dictionary!

We sing songs using the letters and sounds!

We have fun doing art and craft

projects which help us practice and remember each

sound!

We play games which help us sort

and recognise what sound different

words and objects start with….

We go on sounds “Treasure Hunts”,

searching for things all over the school

which start with the letters we are

learning!

We learn how to put all the sounds

together to make new words and how

to read simple words by sounding

them out…
