1 GETTING STARTEDFor mobile PhoneTools to operate properly, please verify the following:

• A PC with a Pentium® II 233 MHz computer, connected to your mobile phone.

• One available USB port.

• Local hard drive with 20MB free space.

• Mobile phone (SAMBA55/75) which is compatible with mobile PhoneTools software.

• Data/fax option included in the subscription contract with your cell phone operator (to allow fax and e-mails transmission and reception).

• High speed data networks (GPRS) options included in the subscription contract with your mobile phone operator (for high speed e-mail and Internet use on the mobile phone network); data service is a network and subscription dependant feature that may not be available in all areas. Please contact your wireless service provider for details.

• Minimum active memory: 64MB of RAM under Windows® XP.

Important ! You have to install the software before connecting the SAMBA55/75/75i device to the PC.

1.1 Installing the evaluation software on a Laptop computer running Windows® XP

The mobile PhoneTools is a software that enables you to make different configurations for SMS, Data, Fax calls as well GPRS connections to the internet. With mobile PhoneTools you can share the information contained in your mobile phone with your computer. Once your mobile phone is connected to your computer, the following operations can be easily processed: send and receive e-mails and SMS; synchronize your phonebooks and calendars; load, create and modify ring tones for your mobile phone; launch a GPRS session and internet connection, etc.The software’s help file can be found after the software installation on its install directory or you can access it from the application main window. During the installation of the Mobile PhoneTools software, please, follow the on-screen instructions.

✔ Insert the CD-ROM into your computer’s CD drive, a HTML page will automatically open. Click on the link named Software on the left side of the appeared page. Start the installation of the mobile PhoneTools software by clicking on BVRP Software Installer (exe) link. On the appeared screen select the desired language by clicking on the corresponding country flag, then click Install mobile PhoneTool button. See figure below. Some steps are not described in this document, you have to follow the on-screen instructions.



✔ Select “Complete” option for a complete software installation.

✔ The software starts to install the requested operations.

✔ Click Register later button.



✔ When setup has finished the installation of mobile PhoneTools software on your PC and it requests you to finish the installation, please, select the check box “Automatically run mobile PhoneTools”, and then click Finish button to complete the installation.

✔ The software is waiting for modem connection to the PC.

✔ Now, you just insert the SAMBA55, SAMBA75 or SAMBA75i modem into one of your computer’s PC/laptop USB slots. The modem will automatically be switched on when you insert the phone in the USB slot of your computer. The software will automatically detect the modem and starts to search their drivers. The modem is then active and the middle LED labelled “ERR” lights.



The insertion of the modem should trigger a feature of Windows called "Plug and Play" which launches the Found New Hardware wizard. The wizard displays a message indicating that it will search for a driver for the Falcom SAMBA55/75/75i.

✔ Now, you just insert the SAMBA55, SAMBA75 or SAMBA75i modem into one of your computer’s PC/laptop USB slots. The modem will automatically be switched on when you insert the modem in the USB slot of your computer. The software will automatically detect the modem and starts to search their drivers. The modem is then active and the middle LED labelled “ERR” lights. The insertion of the modem should trigger a feature of Windows called "Plug and Play" which launches the Found New Hardware wizard. The wizard displays a message indicating that it will search for a driver for the Falcom SAMBA55/75/75i.

CAUTION - Use caution when inserting the SAMBA55/75/75i into the USB slot. Forcing the modem may damage the connector pins. If you feel resistance while inserting the modem into the USB slot of your computer, remove it immediately and check for any damage of its connector or bend pins.

Additionally, the Status LED labelled “ERR” will always flash during the internal initialization. This effect will happen after the corresponding drivers are installed. After internal initialization is implemented (approx. 3-5 sec.) the Status LED labelled “ERR” will be turned off. After a few seconds and after the user has entered the PIN number (if needed) the GSM LED will start flashing slowly (which means, the registration into the network is successfully)



✔ The request of PIN code dialog box will be automatically started. Enter a correct PIN code, which you have got from your operator. The entering of PIN code enables the modem to register itself into the GSM network, and also enables the user of SAMBA75/75i a full access into the GSM/GPRS/EDGE functionalities. Depending on the mobile phone you’re using (SAMBA55, SAMBA75 or SAMBA75i), the application interface will vary accordingly.

✔ Now you can use the modem according to your requirements. Click Help icon on the main screen to get more information about using this communication software. This software gives you a comprehensive overview as well as an easy and quickly way to start up required user application or access to the Internet services.

Because the SAMBA75/75i do not support voice call functions, the keyboard on this software will be shown only when the SAMBA55 modem is connected.
