Chaplain Stays I would like to reassure our school community that our School Chaplain is on a contract and will be with us for the remainder of 2014. WSPS has been fortunate to have Chaplain Sandy Clifton as part of our Student Services team for over six years now. Sandy has supported teachers in and out of the classroom on significant curriculum projects. These have included, Mediators, Buz Rangers, Homework Club and PATHS. Like most supplementary school resources the Chaplaincy Service is subject to annual reviews and application to a funding body for contract renewal. I am confident that funding will continue for what is an important and valued service. What Is Reliability? Reliability means that others can depend on you to keep your commitments. Reliability is doing something that you have agreed to do in a predictable way, without forgetting or having to be reminded. When you practice reliability, you really care about doing what you said you would do. Other people can relax knowing it is in you reliable hands. Why Practice It? When people are unreliable, others can‟t trust them to keep their promises. If aeroplanes, trains or buses are late, passengers can miss important appointments. If someone keeps forgetting to do what they said they would do, they let people down. When you are reliable, people can trust you to show up on time, be where you promised to be, to put tools away, to get the job done. Signs of Success Congratulations! You are practicing Reliability when you… Make promises you can keep Treat your agreements seriously Plan ahead Do your best Finish on time Find another way if obstacles occur

Hello to all the families of Weld Square Primary School.

P&C Meeting: The last P&C meeting was held on Tuesday 24 June. The next meeting will be on Tuesday 19 August in the Staff room. A light supper will be provided. Anybody who may be interested in joining the P&C team is very welcome. Come and meet the friendly people, who work tirelessly behind the scenes supporting our school. We are still looking for parents and friends to join our committee. As the saying goes, “Many hands make light work”. The more parents and friends who help with the organization of our fund raising events, lunch days and discos means there is less work for individuals to do and people only needing to spare an hour on such events instead of four hours. Parent Morning Tea: After the assembly each fortnight the P&C hold a morning tea for parents who wish to stay and have a chat. This will be held in the school art room, just behind the assembly area. On Friday 20 June we had a good response for signing up to eHealth Records by parents who stayed and chatted at our morning tea. We look forward to seeing more parents at our next morning tea on Friday 4 July. Junior Playground: We only have a few small things to do to finish off the playground. There is a music wall we would love to install, but we need a handy person to build it. There is a jetty to be built and a step and handrail for the stage. We also want to construct a teepee, and position some tree trunk totem poles. Our next busy bee will be at the beginning of term three. Whole School Lapathon: This was held on Wednesday 11 June. Please bring in your sponsor forms with your money into the office as soon as possible. The sooner all of the completed sponsor forms are handed in, the sooner we can announce the Learning Area winner and individual winners. Monthly Special Lunch Order Days: The Special Lunch for this term is on Thursday 3 July. Forms for this were sent home on Monday. The first one for Term 3 will be on Wednesday 6 August, then 3 September and 24 September. For Term 4 they will be on 5 November and last one on 3 December. It will be a set menu and run by parent volunteers. Thank you to Karen Watts and Uyen Nguyen for volunteering each month and to everyone else who will be assisting with the special lunch order days. Uniform Shop: The uniform shop is open each Friday in the undercover area between 8.30—9.15am. See Mrs Nikki Taylor if you require uniform items. Mrs Lindsay has order forms in the office if you wish to place an order. The uniform shop has some second hand uniforms for sale at minimal cost to you. If your child has grown out of their school uniform and they are still in good condition, the uniform shop will gladly accept them as donations. Helen Bolin P&C Vice President

Dates to Remember Friday 27 June: Interschool Lightning Carnival Wednesday 2 July: River Ranger Excursion, Interschool Cross Country—12.30-2.30pm Friday 4 July: Last Day of Term 2 TUESDAY 22 JULY: STUDENTS RETURN TO SCHOOL

Parents Loan Collection Parents, have a look at the PARENT LOAN COLLECTION which is new to the library. We have some books you will find interesting. My favourite is „How to Talk So Kids Will Listen and Listen So Kids Will Talk‟ by A Faber & E Mazlish. Sandy Clifton Chaplain
