SchoolCalendarHappy end of Quarter 1! Can you believe the first quarter is already over? Time flies when you’re having fun!
We would like to thank Mr. Shelton for spending time cleaning and taking care of our fish and their tank! It looks beautiful and the fish are much happier! Mr. Shelton also acquired two donations; one from WalMart for tank supplies, and another from Dr. Nimmo for new fish. Thank you to both WalMart and Dr. Nimmo! We appreciate Mr. Shelton sharing his talents and helping us keep a healthy environment for our fish to thrive!
Thank you Amber Shea, Lead Photographer of Photo Reflections of Alaska, for volunteering her time and talent to our school! School pictures are scheduled for Nov. 5th for grades K-3 and Nov. 6th for grades 4-8. In addition to student pictures, Mrs. Shea will be offering family portraits on Nov. 5th and 12th. More information will be sent home on the 22nd after finalizing some of the details. Thank you again to Mrs. Shea and her team!
Fun news for our students! To promote hard work and diligence, Pet Zoo is giving away a free Beta to students who earn all A’s or 4’s on their report card, and a free Goldfish for report cards with A’s, B’s, O’s, S’s, 3’s or 4’s! Students must present the report card to a Pet Zoo employee.
Just a reminder: Student-Led Conferences are scheduled for Oct. 25th and 26th. Everyone should have received an invitation with the date and time of your appointment. If you did not receive notification, please contact the teacher(s) directly for that information. We’re looking forward to seeing you!
Do you have previous experience with organizing a raffle? Are you interested in managing one for Fronteras? If so, please give me a call or send me an email. I would love your help!
Have a fantastic weekend!
Most Sincerely,
JSchmidt

ins7ll and teacher them. You can help us by reinforcing these characteris7cs

SEE's CHOCOLATES are selling FAST! Help us sell these heavenly chocolates to your immediate families, neighbors, and friends. I
personally discourage selling door to door; however, many of us have LOTS of opportunities to take a box to work, bring one to an ice hockey game, a meeting, etc. WHAT? You haven't seen our assortment? Stop
by the front lobby in building A and satisfy YOUR craving!
38 Fronteras students (and a few other family members) participated in GO FOR THE GRAVY T-Shirt Competition. THANK YOU! The winner will be revealed later NEXT WEEK! Entries will also be on display during our 5th annual GO FOR THE GRAVY!
GO FOR THE GRAVY pre-registration is HAPPENING RIGHT NOW!!! Pre-register by November 2 and be one of the first 60 children or 40 adults to get a t-shirt. T-shirts will be available, until supply lasts, to individual and
household entries. So, HURRY... DON'T BE LAZY... GO FOR THE GRAVY!!!! This Great FUNdraiser is to benefit our PE program. Last year, the funds collected helped subsidize the cost of an Archery Kit for our PE and After School
Enrichment Program and purchase T-shirts for our X-Country and Track Fronteras' TEAMS!
GO FOR THE GRAVY meets EVERY FRIDAY, immediately after school, in Mrs. Ward's classroom. COME AND JOIN US!This is a school, family & community event.
Boxtops for Fall are due Oct. 15. Boxtops flyers were sent
home with students last week - you can put your saved up boxtops on
these festive sheets and hand them in to your teacher or to the front desk.
Contact [email protected]

conferences.
GO FOR THE GRAVY!!
49 Fronteras Families RETURNED the Volunteer Questionnaires so far... another 93 are STILL MISSING! Volunteer Questionnaires offer the volunteer coordinators A LOT of useful information PLUS this information will keep us from having to contact EVERYONE ALL THE TIME! Help us use our time more effectively. WE'RE in THIS
TOGETHER! We care dearly about ALL of our children and TOGETHER we can MAKE IT HAPPEN! Please, participate in the Volunteer Questionnaire, it would only take 3 minutes! Print a form from our website AND submit it to Shawn at the front
desk in Building A OR have your child turn it in to his/her teacher! Thank YOU!
Volunteer log in book is at the front desk in the blue binder. Instead of numbers, look up your last name. Don't forget to log in your
hours! Remember each family is responsible for volunteering at least 4 hours per month at Fronteras.

Raising Awareness and Growing Locks: Phoenixes Fight Against Cancer
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. At Fronteras, we would like to acknowledge all the individuals who have battled any form of cancer. Together, we’ll create a poster celebrating the heroes we’ve known who have courageously fought this disease, and we’ll proudly display it in our gym. Bring a copy of a photograph or a drawing of your hero(es). Include the name and the type of cancer. We will post each picture on a banner to honor them and to raise awareness of just how many people are affected by this disease. (If
you wish to have the picture back, please include a note and ensure that you label it clearly on the back. We will xerox your photograph and return the original copy to you.) Your child should bring the photo or drawing to PE to share the hero’s story and add
the photo to our banner. We will display our banner from October through April.
During that time, we would like to encourage Fronteras families to start growing their lovely locks. In April, we hope to have Phoenixes proudly cut their locks and donate them to Locks for Love. Let’s join the fight against cancer!
On Wednesday, October 17th, we're going to have our next Assembly. So, let’s do PINK-IT DAY where EVERYONE wears something PINK in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Day.
