ATTENTION ANGLERS: Like all fishing clubs and anglers, the Phoenix Bass Masters continue to be confounded and increasingly frustrated by the Coronavirus pandemic and chaos. We are very concerned for the health and safety of all who are, have been or might be affected and do not want to increase the risk for anyone. With that in mind, President Mark Figueroa canceled our April meeting. Now, after consulting local Emergency Services personnel and national CDC guidance, our fearless Tournament Director Dan Wolters has canceled our April 25 tournament on Lake Pleasant. 'tis a sad day for us all. But, enquiring minds want to know, "What about May," which is just around the corner, or, if you prefer, after the Apex? Well, we can definitely say that "April showers bring May flowers." However, it remains to be seen whether PBM will meet on May 4 and/or have a Roosevelt Lake tournament on May 9. As soon as those decisions are made, I will inform all PBM members, sponsors and prospective members via email and it will be posted on our website and Facebook pages (Members Only Group and the public page). So, stay tuned and ever hopeful. OOPS! PEDRO 2020 JUST CHANGED EVERYTHING! SOME OF US ARE GOING FISHING!! Mark Figueroa is giving anglers a chance to participate in a VOLUNTARY, INFORMAL NON-PBM TEAM DERBY. This IS NOT a PBM tournament. Teams are limited to 2 anglers but solo fishing will be allowed to provide maximum Social Distancing opportunities. To fish, just be at the 10-Lane ramp on Lake Pleasant on April 25, pay Mark your $40 entry (Team or Solo) and launch your boat in staggered style between 6:30 am and 7:00 am. After fishing, by 3:00 pm trailer your boat or at least be in position to trailer. Mark is applying regular PBM Tmx Rules to this event, except only your Team's BIGGEST largemouth or almost-mythical Lake Pleasant smallmouth bass will count. On the water, take a digital PHOTO of your big fish on a digital scale; make sure the weight is clearly readable with the fish. There is no Goon Fish category in this event, so Vince Borrego might struggle to find a boater. DO NOT BRING FISH TO THE WEIGH-IN! Just bring the digital photo of your big one and show it to Mark, somewhere in the 10-lane parking lot. This is an honor-system fun derby. So, be honorable. Teams: pick your own. This derby is open to ANYONE, so partner with someone in PBM or someone else if you need to. Or fish solo. Use our membership list and call someone to form a team. Heck, call KVD. He's not doing anything. Kudos to Pedro 2020 for setting these wheels in motion. A DISCOUNT FROM SPONSOR 5150 PLASTICS!! Dave Hernandez, at 5150 Plastics, is giving PBM dues-paid members a 10% discount on online purchases made at the 5150 website, https://5150plastics.com/. The discount code is phxbass and Dave has a current list of our members to make sure the discount has been earned. This is your chance to stock up on all the baits you want and might be able to use on April 25. Jump online, spend megabucks and say a big thanks to Dave for 5150's support of the Phoenix Bass Masters! Phoenix Bass Masters, Inc. PBM does not run on air. Not even on Pedro 2020’s hot air. Or even on beer. It runs on the energy of its members. If you are not putting something in the PBM tank, other than paying your dues and showing your smiling face on the water and in meetings, you are riding on the energy of others. But, less than 20% of our membership does virtually all the behind-the-scenes work. So, please join in the work as well as in the fun. Come to meetings and participate. Chair or participate in a committee. Work our special events, especially including, but not limited to, the annual PBM/MBC Open. Donate products for the Open raffle. Line up Sponsors. Figure out what PBM needs are best matched to your skills and volunteer for something, today. Then, do the work. Every member really is essential to club success!

    A Word FOR Our Sponsors We all have lots of options for where we buy fishing tackle but at the top of our lists should be our wonderful PBM Sponsors, which include, in alphabetical order: 5150 Plastics; A&M Graphics; BBS Lures; Big 5; Big Fish Bullies; Cross Bone Outfitters; Crossed Industries; DD26 Fishing; ES Advisement, LLC; Home Depot; Monterey Bass Company;

    Native Grill and Wings; OHSO Brewery; Robo Junkie, LLC,

    Boat Detail; Sportsman’s Warehouse; The Anglers Authority; and Voodoo Active Wear. Ok, maybe you can’t buy tackle or angler wear from a few of these Sponsors but you can still get great deals on other things that anglers use. Heck, if you use DD26 Fishing tackle, you might catch big fish like that nice Havasu smallie that Scott Brown caught!

    In Closing Help us make 2020 a great year for Phoenix Bass Masters! Join the best club in Arizona and bring a friend or 2 with you. Boaters, nonboaters and guests are welcome BUT every boat in our tournaments MUST have at least 1 club member aboard. Adults (16 and older) may only guest fish in 1 tournament per tournament year.
