Standard duty and waterproofend-light harnesses

Philips fibre optic end-lightharnesses are constructed frompolymethylmethacrylate PMMA,

a pure methacrylate. This is thebest known material to conveylight over long distances.Combined with specific metalhalide lamps, PMMA conveys thefull spectrum of the lamp withoutvisible colour drift and maintainslight properties over distances ofup to 30 meters. With a bendingradius of 25-30 mm PMMAcables are flexible and easy toinstall.

Octopus and FOCUSharnesses

In the FOCUS system,part of theoptical train is integrated in theconnecting end of the harness.The construction is thus differentand a combination of a FOCUSharness with an Octopusgenerator, or the contrary round,is not allowed.

Standard-duty end-lightharnessesDesigned for indoor use, theseharnesses are made withprotected fibres that comply withindoor cable regulationsIEC 332-1.

Waterproof end-lightharnessesPhlips offers waterproofharnesses, waterproof from endto end: IP 45 connecting end,IP 68 cables (can lay underwater

at -10 m) and IP 67 cable ends.They are made of cablesequipped with a connecting endprotected with a flexible sleeve.Waterproof end-light harnessesconnected to IP 45 generatorsand equipped with waterproofterminations allow for a totallywaterproof fibre optic lightinginstallation. With such harnesses,the risk of deterioration of theoptical fibres over time or waterleakage into the generator isminimised.See possible end-light harnessesconfigurations in the table below.

Custom made harnessesAll harnesses are customised toanswer precisely the projectrequirements. Whatever thequantity of cables needed, therequired active diameters, theexact lengths specified, Philipsmanufactures the harnesses youneed (within technicallimitations).

Standard duty and waterproofside-light harnesses

Philips fibre optic side-lightharnesses are constructed frompolymethylmethacrylate PMMA,

a pure methacrylate. This is thebest material to convey light overlong distances. Combined with aFOCUS generator it offers themost efficient side-light system,with possible cable length up to15 metres with 1 generator, andup to 40 metres with 1 generatorconnected to each end.Two diameters are available forindoor as well as for outdoor use:8 mm and 11 mm.With a bending radius less than50 mm, side-light cables areflexible and easy to install.

Octopus and FOCUSharnessesIn the FOCUS system, part of theoptical train is integrated in theconnecting end of the harness.The construction is thus different,it is not possible to connect aFocus harness to a Octopusgenerator, or the contrary way.Itis recommended to connect aside-light cable to a FOCUSgenerator. Octopus metal halidegenerators can also be used, butonly in rather dark ambiences.

Standard-duty and waterproofThe side-light cables and cableends are waterproof byconstruction. According to thelocation of the generator,select astandard-duty or a waterproof

side-light harness. The onlydifference is the connecting endwhich is IP 45 in the waterproofversion. The best side-light systemThe best side-light system is theFOCUS generator combined withan 11 mm side-light cable.It provides a high luminance levelwith a very high uniformity up to15 metres (with 1 generator), or40 metres (with 2 generators).

Side-light cables accessoriesTo fix cables, P-clips for curvedlines and clear channels forstraight lines are available. Partsof a cable can be hidden with a

blackening sleeve.
