The Courage to Innovate: Unlocking the Skills for Fresh Thinking (POE)We are being asked every day to become more “entrepreneurial” in how we shape our organizations, businesses, teams and products. Whether you are from a small organization seeking that competitive edge, a large and cumbersome organization looking for a better way to do business or an entrepreneur embarking on a new venture, it takes courage: courage to lead, courage to risk, and most importantly, courage to innovate. Your survival depends on your ability to make fresh thinking happen on a daily basis in every nook and cranny of your workplace. The Objective Leader: How to Leverage the Power of Seeing Things As They Are (W)We are all subjective — it’s human nature. We overreact to situations; we judge people too quickly and unfairly; we take something personally when it was not really meant that way. As a result, we lose relationships, reputation, money, and peace of mind. And in our ever-more-com-plex world, leaders must make decisions faster and with more conflicting information; widespread insecurity makes people territorial and risk-averse; and the consequences of every action are played out on a disproportionately large stage. To succeed, we must consciously seek to increase our objectivity — seeing and accepting things as they are without projecting our mental models, fears, background, and personal experiences onto them. In this session, Elizabeth Thornton will share her research and offer proven strategies to identify limiting and unpro-ductive ways of thinking and create powerful new mental models that ensure continued success.

Pioneering Pay Equity: Strategies to Bridge the Gap, Own Your Value and Negotiate Your Worth (POE)When women are empowered to lead and given the tools and support to do so, they make choices that change history. Why is it then that women are not compensated to reflect our power? Why is it that even in today’s age, women in the U.S. make 77 cents for every dollar a man makes on average? In this interactive session, leaders and negotiation experts will share how we can lead the charge to help women achieve pay eq-uity. Attendees will hear a conversation with senior executives from leading companies who are taking concrete and public steps to address these issues, and also share tools to help you become a powerful and confident asker.
