The very first organized crew regatta was held on Philadelphia’s Schuylkill River -- November 12, 1835

Pre-dates Harvard’s rowing program by eight years

Schuylkill River hosts more regattas each year than any other river in the United States

Schuylkill River hosts two of the country’s oldest continuing regattas

The Schuylkill Navy Regatta (dating back to before 1860) The Independence Day Regatta (1880)
