Objectives of the Program

IIHMR University has introduced PhD

Program in Hospital and Health

Management. It is a doctoral program in

t h e h e a l t h s e c t o r w i t h a

multidisciplinary focus. The program

will be open to postgraduates in the field

of Management, Public Health and

Medicine, Nursing, Ayurveda and

Indian system of Medicine, Commerce,

Economics, Finance, Demography,

Pharmaceuticals, Social Sciences and

Allied Sciences.

The program has been designed on thesemester system. There will be 5-6semesters spreading over the wholeperiod of three years, with twosemesters in each year. Each semesterwill be equivalent to one term.

The PhD program broadly aims atbuilding and strengthening researchcapacity in the management of healthcare in order to improve the standardsof health of people through accessible,

affordable and equitable healthservices. The following are theobjectives of the proposed program:

1. Building capacity in research tostrengthen health systems throughe n h a n c e d e f f i c i e n c y a n d

effectiveness, developing evidencebased policies, strategies andinterventions in the health sector.

2. Developing high quality humanr e s o u r c e s f o r c o n d u c t i n gmanagement research in health carein the area of policy, strategy andprogram management , andevaluation.

3. D e v e l o p i n g o u t s t a n d i n gacademicians and managementprofessionals for higher levelmanagement teaching and research

in postgraduate institutions,universities, health care industry,government and consul t ingorganizations.

The PhD Program is designed to meetthe needs of research competency andskills of postgraduates in the field ofpolicy and management research in thehealth sector including hospitals,health systems and services andpharmaceuticals among youngresearchers, academicians andteachers, health administrators andmid-career health care professionals inprivate and government health sectors.

Masters Degree or Post Graduate

Diploma in Management (PGDM)

from a UGC/AICTE recognized

institution or university, with at

least 55% marks (or equivalent

grade) and 50% for SC and STcandidates.

Working professionals having a

minimum of ten years experience of

working in the health sector are

encouraged to apply.

Senior health professionals with

more than 15 years of experience in

h e a l t h c a r e a n d p r o g r a m

management and implementation

and have made a significant

contribution at the national and

international level in the health and

related sectors will be given priority.

Exemption from IRAT

The admission process will include

three steps: screening of applications,

IIHMR Research Aptitude Test (IRAT)

and personal interview.

qualifying test after screening the

appl ications and short-l ist ingcandidates. IRAT will be a written test

consisting of multiple choice questions
