Transcript of Phasion of the Era
Phasion of the Era is a satiric musical theatre
inspired runway show with clothes made from non-
traditional items. The social commentary focused on
the state of theatre today and commercialism within
the entertainment industry. This event was produced
for a Broadway Cares Equity Fights Aid’s benefit
concert in February 2009.
There was no funding for this project
and the garments were designed from donated
materials including: paper plates, People magazine,
plastic rose petals, Christmas ornaments, stickers, hot
glue, paint, duct tape, glitter, sequins, cups, paper
lanterns, and many other objects lying around my
college apartment.
The runway show and performance
included music and narration of the works stylized for
each costume piece. This project is a bucket list
dream of mine. I aspire to one day create a thick
coffee table book to raise money for Broadway Cares.
Future dreams include producing a fashion show at
Lincoln Center and enlisting both famous designers
and performers to recreate these (among many)
costumes for a live event, photo shoot, and charity
auction.
