Phase III SIMICA 1636.1 &2 Demonstration Objectives
• Provides timely testing information exchanges utilizing a net-centric environment.
• Provides a standard link and data interface in collecting maintenance action information that supports specific use cases / applications.
• Demonstrates the flexibility in implementations utilizing the appropriate SCC 20 SIMICA standards required to collect and utilize maintenance data in a implementation independent specification.
MAI / Test Results Phase III Demonstration Overview
Demonstrates the ability to share information in a net centric environment through the implementation of the ATS framework standards. Utilizes COTS tools. Supports a variety of use cases. Supports the development of reusable and interoperable tools.
For the purposes of this demonstration Test Results IEEE Std. 1636.1 are obtained over the network from a remote site using a legacy tester (CASS). The information can be presented in any application specific format.
For this demo a MAI generic report is used for test results.
For this portion of the demo the MAI XML data is presented in the Navy MAF form as well as the generic report form.
Maintenance actions requests / Records results.
Obtains Test Results from Legacy ATE (CASS) that supports IEEE 1636.1 for diagnostic analysis
COTS supported and managed web applications. Generic Writer / Reader
Validates exchanged documents against the IEEE P1636.2 MAI 1636.1Test Results.

Phase III Demonstration Results
• Supports timely MTDS information exchanges in a multi-organizational support environment using the ATS Framework recommended standards.
• The SIMICA standards demonstrates the ability to interchange maintenance data that is reusable in a net-centric environment. (Non application specific format)
• Supports the use and development of reusable COTS tools for varied user and application environments.
Features of the ATS Framework standards highlighted by the Demo
• The application independent data definition and structure is designed to provide the essential information required to maintain and support a system through its life cycle
• The use of IEEE Standards that utilize W3C / XML coupled with the criteria defined in the standards affords the following benefits:
– Structured for net-centric implementations
– Affords the use of COTS tools
– Eases implementation on legacy systems.
Backup Information • The MAI standard addresses the needs to document the maintenance
actions associated with the removal, repair and replacement of system components required to maintain / support an operational system.
• The Test Result standard allows for the recording of the execution and observations of a test or test secessions.
• SIMICA Software Interface for Maintenance Information Collection and Analysis is a implementation independent specification for a software interface to information systems containing data pertinent to diagnosis and maintenance of complex systems. The standard address the collection, exchange and analysis of data.
