Why is CMS seeking partnerships with Pharmacists and Pharmacies?
• We realize that Pharmacists and other pharmacy staff have frequent direct contact with beneficiaries
• Consumers TRUST their local Pharmacist and VALUE the relationship
• Pharmacists know what their customer’s prescription expenditures are and often get questions about which health plans might be worth considering
• Pharmacists and Pharmacies are already providing some of the covered preventive services (e.g. flu vaccine)

What is a CMS partnership and what does it entail?
CMS views the partnership relationship as a long-term relationship.
The ultimate goal is to ensure beneficiaries are aware of services that are available.
The relationship provides the Pharmacist with a direct point of contact at CMS
Partnerships can range from the simple distribution of CMS publications to actual development of co-branded materials.
