Formula: Ingredient Official quantity Chloroform 0.15ml Distilled water 30ml Requirements: Beaker(50ml),Pipette, measuring cylinder. Reference: It is reffered from the text book of practical pharmaceutics by R.S.Gaud and G.D.Gupta having page no- 01 Theory: An aromatic waters are clear, saturated aqueous solutions of volatile oils or contain other aromatic or volatile substances, also known as medicated waters.Taste and odour of aromatic water are similar to the drugs or volatiles substances from which they are prepared. Procedure: 1. Measure the required amount (0.5%)chloroform and dissolve it in purified water by vigourous shaking . 2. Transfer the aromatic water in a well closed container or amber-coloured bottle and close it tightly. Pharmaceutical Use :It is used as flavouring agents.carminativeand as a vehicle .it is a very good preservative for the products containing the vegetable extracts. examples-chloroform water, camphor water, cinnamon water.
