Immunity against Hepatitis B
Absence of potentially infectious diseases
such as TB
Having completed an educational module in
OR technique, or certificate of Competence in
Clinical Environment Training

Hepatitis B
Representative allowed in theatre must have
documented proof of immunity against
Hepatitis B, to ensure that the representative
is protected
Hep B status can be shown with either the
vaccination record card - 3 vaccinations over
a 6 month period and then a booster every 5
years, if required

Hepatitis B - booster
If no booster - status of antibodies can be
tested by a blood sample measuring the Hep B
SAB (surface antibody) value
If below 10 mIU/mL booster required for those
with an ongoing risk for exposure
Protected as long as the anti-HBs value is
positive and higher than 10 mIU per ml
