Patient care activities are more rewarding and meaningful than cases and labs. These activities allow students to integrate classroom and lab activities to practice.See Goals: P. 11 of Manual The course goals are for students to participate in patient care, with a focus on communication skills, gathering patient information and exposure to assessing and planning care with the guidance of a preceptor;become familiar with community practice operations and the environment, including interactions with the community and other health professionals; and experience professional socialization, as this is an initiation to the profession.Practice skills such as critical thinking, decision-making, independent learning and accountability are encouraged.
