QUALITY  IN  THE  SMALLEST  DETAILS

When we designed the interior of the new 308, we wanted to offera superior level of comfort and convenience. That’s why all 308 versions come with air conditioning, electricfront and rear windows, a reach and rake adjustable steeringwheel, electrically adjustable door mirrors and remote centrallocking with two plip keys.

The large windscreen on both the Peugeot 308 hatchback and theSW versions, maximises visibility and enhances a feeling of spaceand comfort.

A quality interiorEasy-to-reach controls are incorporated into a simple dashboard. The instrument panel dials are available with a black or whitebackground, depending on the version chosen. A leather steering wheel (Active model) with easy-access audiocontrols and a front central armrest (Active model)  ensure apremium feel to the interior.

Lots of roomOne of our top priorities was to make sure everyone had plenty ofroom. The layout of the cabin ensures rear passengers have lots ofleg room whilst the front wrap-around seats are roomy andcomfortable.

There are numerous ingenious storage spaces:  a glove boxconnected to the air conditioning with more than 10 litres ofstorage space plus an adjustable front armrest (Active model)covering a storage space housing a USB port (Active model).

Passengers in the 308 SW enjoy even more space and brightnessthanks to the optional,  large panoramic glass roof, stretchingback to the third row.

ENGINES

Equipped with a 1.6 HDi 92bhp diesel engine or a1.6 eHDi 112bhp diesel engine, the 308 offerssuperb fuel consumption figures and reducedCO2 emissions.

An innovation developed by PSA, the HDi high-pressure direct injection engine continues to buildon its success and offers low fuel consumptionand excellent torque at low engine speeds. Peugeot’s HDi engine is fitted to a 5-speedmanual gearbox in the new 308.

Peugeot has set out to meet environmentalchallenges by unveiling  its eHDi micro-hybridtechnology, fitted with a new generation STOP& START system with alternator startertechnology, on the new 308 range.

This technology automatically switches off theengine each time the vehicle is stopped at a redlight or a stop sign.

The new generation STOP and START systemfeatures a smoother engine restart.

The eHDi engine offers improved control of fuelconsumption and therefore reduces CO2emissions by an additional 15%.

This technology is fitted to a 6-speedelectronically controlled manual gearbox tofurther optimise fuel consumption.

The 6-speed EGC gearbox is characterised by theabsence of a clutch pedal, where the driver usespaddles or an automated mode to change gears. 

The EGC gearbox offers a real alternative totraditional manual or automatic gearboxes,offering reduced fuel consumption and loweremissions.

That’s why we’ve spent hoursdeveloping, testing and refiningthe 308 to ensure it can keep itscomposure on even the mostdemanding of our roads.

To ensure the 308 maintains itscomposure, the Peugeot 308 isequipped  as standard witha  comprehensive brake systemcombining several

safety  systems that guaranteemaximum passenger safety:

• Anti-lock brakes (ABS) help youto keep control of yourdirection of travel duringemergency braking.

• Electronic Brake ForceDistribution (EBFD) applies adifferent amount of brakingforce to individual wheels tokeep your car stable,especially if you need to brakeon a corner.

• The Emergency BrakeAssistance (EBA) systemcomes to your aid if brakes arehit hard and in a hurry. Thesystem applies maximumbraking power in millisecondsto bring you to a halt quicklyand safely.

The ESP  system  (ElectronicStability Program / ActiveStability Control),  adds twoextra functions:

• Traction Control (ASR) acts onthe brakes and engine

management to prevent eachwheel from spinning inslippery conditions.

• Active Stability Control (ASC)continuously compares thesignals sent by the steeringwheel sensor and the yawsensor in order to detectundersteer or oversteer. It thenuses the braking and enginemanagement systems to keepyou on course.

ProtectionPeople come first with us.That’s why we’ve taken allthe features you can’t seeon the 308 as seriously asthe ones you can. Beneath an elegantexterior, lies a passengersafety cell that’s beendesigned with impactabsorption structures tosoak up as much energy aspossible in the event of anaccident.

Impact AbsorptionThe layout of the car limits theintrusion of the engine and thegearbox into the passenger

compartment. In the event of a frontal impact,the steering column retracts tohelp prevent injuries. The all-round protectioncontinues with reinforced sidepanels to take the brunt of theforce.

Safety BeltsIf you do find yourself in adangerous situation, it isreassuring to know that the 308is fully equipped with 3-pointseat belts with force limiters,which compliment therestraining effect provided by thepyrotechnic pre-tensionersystem in the driver and front

passenger seats. All safety belts are connected to“safety belt not fastened”warning lights, visible on thefront ceiling light (depending onmodel).

AirbagsThe protection offered tooccupants is further enhanced bya system of  six  SMART airbags:• two frontal airbags• two chest level / pelvic side

airbags• and two curtain airbags to

protect the side of the heads ofthe driver, front passenger andrear passengers who areseated in the side seats, in the

event of an accident.

Child protectionChildren are carried on boardsafely and securely with anelectrically operated child safetydevice which locks the rear doorsand deactivates the electric rearwindows - available as standardon all 308 models in Ireland. The two outer rear seats in thehatchback model are equippedwith ISOFIX mountings for fittingISOFIX compatible child safetyseats. The 308 SW has up to four seatswith ISOFIX fixtures. (ThreeISOFIX  seats as standard, - fourISOFIX  seats  from Active model).

In 2009, the Peugeot 308 successfuly repeated the EURONCAP ADULT OCCUPANT PROTECTION test, obtaining once again 5stars, the maximum that can be obtained. Created in 1997, the EURO NCAP is an independent Europeanorganisation that evaluates the safety of vehicles available on themarket by means of several tests: frontal impact, side impact, pillartest, etc. The organisation makes the results of these tests publicusing a star rating system. These have an influence on the ratescharged by insurance companies in Europe. *European New Car Assessment Program.
