Instructions for the Installation of "TPCats Replacement Catalytic Converter"

To avoid accidents safety measures and devices required at the installation site must be in accordance with the instructions and regulations stipulated for safety at work.This applies to general safety regulations of the country in question and the specfic agreements made for each work site.

Dismounting of the old converter1)      Disconnect the grounding cable of the battery.2)      Lift the vehicle up and ensure that it is locked surely in this position.3)      Loosen and dismount the possible lambda sensor carefully from the converter.4)      Loosen the fixing bolts of the converter. If they are stuck, spray rust removing oil and/or heat the bolts with a gas torch. If you use a torch, ensure

that it does not fire the bottom surfaces of the vehicle.5)      Dismount the fixing bolts and the old converter.

Mounting of the TPCats converter1)      Clean the fixing flanges/pipes carefully to ensure tight connection of the new converter. Reserve new gasgets and fixing bolts.2)      Mount the new converter. An arrow on the converter illustrates the correct exhaust gas direction. Mount the possible lambda sensor. Before tightening the

fixing bolts to final tension, ensure that converter has space to move without touching the vehicle body.3)      Land the vehicle on the floor, connect the ground cable of the battery and ensure the tightness of the exhaust system.

Exhaust gas is dangerous. A good ventilation is necessary if the vehicle is running even a short time in a garage.

Note -Diagnose the root cause for converter damage and repair it before mounting the new converter. Otherwise it will cause the new converter to fail as well. Possible cause is excess unburned fuel and overheating in the converter, by misfiring, ignition system failure, towing, deteriorated spark plug (gasoline models) or spark plug wire (gasoline models). Additional causes can be oil or antifreeze entering exhaust, lambda sensor failure (gasoline models) or broken hangers.

The use of wrong fuel type will destroy the converter. If converter is mounted to a vehicle, that has been in use with leaded fuel, it is most recommended to clean the fuel system by driving ~1000 km with unleaded fuel before mounting of the converter.
