Peterson VSS-C Stomp Classic Tuning Map Software - Version 1.0.00

The tuning MAP software allows a Stomp Classic owner to select what Sweeteners are active, create custom Sweeteners and custom presets to load in the Peterson Stomp Classic pedatuner/DI.

    DEFINITIONS

SweetenerA set of cent offsets designed for a particular instrument or group of instruments. Thisis the microtonal raising or lowering of the pitch of individual notes within a tuning by precise amounts(0.1 cent increments) which can enhance the consonance, or sweetness of an instruments sound.

A collection of Peterson Sweeteners*is included in the tuner memory and additional Sweeteners canbe created by the user in the Stomp Classic software editor.Creating your own Sweeteners gives you the power to precisely tailor a tuning for a particularinstrument so that it can consistently sound its best.

OffsetA deviation from Equal Temperament (which is regarded as zero deviation) expressed in 0.1cent increments above or below the zero point (00.0) for each note in each octave.

Concert Pitch The note A4 is calibrated to a Hertz value (most commonly 440Hz) as a globalreference pitch for the tuner.

Drop/Capo Tuning The tuning is altered in semitone increments up (Capo) or down (Drop) whileretaining the original note name.

PresetA combination of Sweetener, Concert A pitch setting and Drop/Capo setting. This group ofsettings can be stored and recalled as a preset.

Configuration A list of presets which can be saved to a computers hard drive or loaded into theStomp Classic pedal tuner/DI.

*The default Sweetened tunings that come with the Stomp Classic are not editable, nor can they be deleted from the editor.

Selecting active Sweeteners for your tuner- Check the box for each Sweetener that is required tobe active in the tuner. The default sweeteners will never be deleted from the editor regardless of whatis checked, and will remain stored for future inclusion.

Creating custom SweetenersClick on the + sign on the bottom of the sweetener selection box. Anew box will open and allow a three-digit name for the new Sweetener to be entered. If no name isentered by the user, the software will assign a name automatically.

With the new Sweetener name highlighted, in the lower portion of the screen select the first note andoctave of the tuning and click on the + sign to add the note. Repeat for all notes in the tuning. If thereis a note that will not have a cent offset, there is no need to enter a cent value for it - the software willassume it is 00.0 cents. After adding the note, a slider control will appear which can be dragged upor down to set the offset cent value. To set the value in .1 cent increments, hold the shift key downwhile dragging the slider.

Because the Stomp Classic allows multi octave Sweeteners, separate offsets for the same note in

different octaves can be programmed. For example, the high and low E string in a standard EADGBEtuning can each have different offsets. If the offset value should be the same for the note in aloctaves, set the Octave setting to ALL.(Examples of use: If you want to be able to tune a guitar or bass using the open string or itsharmonic/flageolet, the offsets for each note should be the same for that note in all octaves)

Important: if a notes octave setting is set to ALL, a second cent offset cannot be added for thatnote. The setting must be deleted first and the correct octave number and cent offset for each of thenotes should be selected.(Examples of use: If you want to compensate for string deflection affecting two strings tuned to thesame note but in different octaves or to set a stretch tuning for an electric harp, each note in each

octave may need a different cent setting)

Creating presets The first step to creating a preset is to select the Sweetener desired. EQU iszero cents setting for all notes in all octaves so if no Sweetener is required to be in the preset, selectEQU. After selecting the Sweetener, click on the NEW arrow icon to create a preset. The new presetwill appear with the selected Sweetener and default settings of concert A=440.00 and drop/capo=0.

Adjust the latter two settings as needed by clicking on the current value and typing in a new valueWhen creating and adding presets, it should be remembered that this is also the order in which theywill appear on the Stomp Classic tuner itself. The Stomp Classic only LCD readout displays 1Hzincrements but .1 Hz settings that you enter will be active. A preset which appears grayed outindicates that it is a duplicate of an existing preset and will be deleted when synced to the Stomp

    Classic.

    Correct notes and octave numbers for Standard Guitar & Bass Tunings:4 String Bass: E1, A1, D2, G25 String Bass: B0, E1, A1, D2, G26 String Guitar: E2, A2, D3, G3, B3, E47 String Guitar: B1, E2, A2, D3, G3, B3, E4

Important : If you are in the habit of tuning your instrument using harmonics/flageolet tones as well asusing open strings, when creating your own Sweeteners please ensure that you use the ALL octavesetting for all notes or at least add an identical offset one octave higher than each open strings

    octave.

Deleting Settings -Highlight the setting to be deleted with the mouse and click on the trash icon.

Saving a configuration-When all required presets have been created, save them by clicking on theSave icon and giving the configuration a name. You can create as many configurations as you like.Save them for later recall and/or load one into your Stomp Classic as required.

Syncing your configuration to your tuner- To transfer a configuration to your Stomp Classicconnect the tuner to your computers USB port with a USB cable. The software will recognize yourtuner and show the firmware version that is currently loaded into your Classic.

IMPORTANT Before trying to load a configuration be sure that the tuner has the latest firmware, which is always available for download atwww.stompclassic.com

After confirming that you have the latest firmware, press the SYNC icon in the Editor program. Anindication will appear on the lower left side of the Editors screen to confirm the successful loading ofthe configuration into the Stomp Classics memory.

Your Stomp Classic tuner will now have your own presets and any selected sweeteners available forchoice using the front panel controls.

Points to note:1. When connected to USB, the Stomp Classic will not work as a tuner. The MUTE LED will blink

to indicate USB mode. The displays will be blank.

    2. When connected to USB to sync a config or update the firmware, it is not necessary to havepower to the unit. It gets all the necessary power from the USB port.

    3. When connected to USB it is not necessary, and not desirable, to have a plug inserted into the

input jack. It will work fine if a plug is inserted, but once the USB operation is completed thetuner must have the jack removed to turn power off, before the tuner will exit USB mode.

    4. The Stomp Classic can be returned to the factory defaults using the config menu on the StompClassic. To gain access to the user Config menu in the Stomp Classic, press and hold boththe menu button and the preset button at the same time for two seconds. The Config menudisables the current settings. If you have downloaded a custom user config from the TuningMAP tool the display will show USR for user config. If you want to revert to the factory settingspress the + button and FDR will show in the window and the factory defaults will be restored.Your user configuration is still in memory and you can switch back to using it anytime
