Civil War Reenactment at PTMS
Social Studies Students Reenact the Battle of Gettysburg
Seventh grade social studies students reenacted the Battle of Gettysburg on the front lawn of the Middle School as part of their studies of the Civil War. Confederate troops (also known as Ms. Giaquinto’s class) were faced with a loss at the hands of the Union soldiers (Mr Hudak’s class) The students then reviewed and discussed what this pivotalsoldiers (Mr. Hudak s class). for a Vocabulary Lesson
This month Middle School Spanish students visited McMurray Elementary to help share a lesson for 4th grade students. The PTMS students prepared and taught a vocabulary
lesson and read the accompanying story to the students. The 4th graders also shared a Spanish song and dance that they had learned and taught it to the older students ThisSpanish song and dance that they had learned and taught it to the older students. This

High School junior Conor Manning has been named a finalist in the Thirty‐second Annual Penn State University Essay Contest. Conor won this recognition of excellence in student writing for his essay titled “One Brave Girl.” Conor recently attended an awards luncheon
at Penn State University hosted by the Penn State Program in Writing and Rhetoricat Penn State University hosted by the Penn State Program in Writing and Rhetoric.

Peters Township 8th grader Alaina Nypaver will represent Peters Township at the U.S. competition of National History Day in June following her first place finish in the Junior
Individual Exhibit Category in the state level competition. Two PT seniors also received 5th
place honors at the competition by making the state run offs placing them in the top sixplace honors at the competition by making the state run‐offs, placing them in the top six projects in their Senior Group Documentary Category.

This weekend marked the second annual PT Day at the Washington Wild Things. As a part of the event, elementary students who showed great sportsmanship could be nominated to throw out a first pitch at the game. The winners from each school are listed above.
PT Walk for Autism Raises $3,500
Sponsored by the PTHS Interact Club
This year’s Annual Walk for Autism was held on May 2 at PTHS. The walk featured entertainment, baked goods, games for children, gift baskets and more. Donations totaled
nearly $2,500 and an additional $1000 will be matched by the McMurray Rotary. All proceeds benefitted the Autism Society and a PT Autism Support Classroomproceeds benefitted the Autism Society and a PT Autism Support Classroom.

On April 22, Pleasant Valley held their annual talent show featuring 45 acts presented by PV students and staff. All monetary donations benefited the American Cancer Society
