This New Year I resolve to do my bit to improve the standards of dress of the British male. In general the

“British bloke” is an unkempt and ill considered dresser (Peter Christian chaps excepted) so I make it my mission to add a bit of colour and joy into the world with a fine selection of colourful kecks (trousers), madder (Rubia tinctorum) dyed

silks, traditional tweeds and natty titfers (hats).

However, not all of us are comfortable in racy kit so, for those with more subdued tastes, outfits should simply look

good and flatter the figure; to this end all our garments are carefully considered, well made and cut from top

quality fabrics. So whilst those around you are looking like a sack of spuds the Peter Christian chap will be quietly

making a fine impression.

When winter’s icy blast sets in you can’t beat a proper woollen pullover and I have gathered together a splendid selection to suit all tastes and occasions. Treat yourself to a classic Fairisle (page 20), a tasteful Lambswool cable knit (page 18) or to really beat off the winter chills, nothing is cosier than a hand knitted Arran pullover from the land

of the hardy Pict (page 17).
