Kailua Regional Wastewater Treatment plant to begin generating its own electricity, saving the city $15 million over 15 years. 80% 1 in 15 homes on O‘ahu are powered by energy that is produced from the HPOWER facility HPOWER processes over 600,000 tons of trash annually, an 80% reduction of landll use HPOWER Cleans and Shines. With the addition of the 3rd Boiler, over 80% of Honolulu's waste is kept out of landlls because of HPOWER, while at the same time producing enough power for over 75,000 homes. Keeping our city running more eciently and with less trash, HPOWER recognized with American Society of Mechanical Engineers highest honor of Facility Recognition. http://bit.ly/HPOWERexpansion Increasing Revenue Without Raising Taxes. New private-public leasehold partnership raises one-time revenue of $142 million and saves tax payers $15 million per year. Between revenue generated and money saved on imported oil, HPOWER saves taxpayers $104 million JUN ‘12 Waste to Energy to Cash. HPOWER is a tax payer owned facility, and it’s owned free and clear. With the expansion of the new boiler at HPOWER, the city expects to increase revenue while decreasing landll usage. The city earns about $50 million a year selling the power. For the rst time ever, the city of Honolulu can prioritize street repair and pot hole repair with data using a pavement management system. Carlisle administration creates transitional housing for homeless people with special needs, such as mental illness, addictions and physical disabilities. FEB ‘12 Better Run Public Housing.
