Presidential Welcome
On behalf of the North Carolina Pest Management Association, and in cooperation with the North
Carolina State University Department of Entomology, I would like to welcome you to the 63rd Annual
Pest Control Technicians School. This is also the first year the PCT School has moved to vibrant
downtown Raleigh and we look forward to a great week!
The objective of the PCT School is to update, train, and inform technicians, managers, suppliers, and
manufactures of the latest pest management industry issues and insect behaviors. Most of you who
attend the PCT School are very concerned about the Continuing Education Units (CCU’s) that are offered
so make sure you pay close attention to the schedule so you get the proper credits for the phases you
are certified or licensed in. By choosing to attend this school, you are making the decision to become
more knowledgeable about the wonderful industry you are involved in.
In combination with your attendance, this PCT School has become one of the largest in the country
because of the participation and support of our sponsors and exhibitors. Each company who is
participating in this PCT School has a direct relationship on the pest management industry and the
potential to have a direct impact on how successfully your business is. I strongly encourage you to
spend any free time in between sessions and the evening of the President’s Reception visiting their
booths, asking about their products and services, and networking with their representatives to see how
they can help you and/or your company become more successful in 2013.
I would like thank all of those whose participation has led to the culmination of the 2013 PCT School.
My Co-Chair, Fred Wingate, has spent endless hours making sure all is right at our new and exciting
venue. Many thanks go to the PCT School Program Committee Co-Chairs, Tommy Powell and Kim
McManamy, along with committee members from the Structural Pest Control Division and NCSU’s
Department of Entomology. Immediately after the conclusion of the last year’s PCT School, this group
started working on the program for this year, so please thank them for their efforts.
Over the next few days, please take time to visit the North Carolina Pest Management Association booth
to find out about the benefits of becoming an Association member if you are not already. We are
looking forward to a great week and there will be many great learning and networking opportunities for
you during the 2013 PCT School, so make sure you take advantage of them.
Again, thank you for your participation and enjoy the 2013 Pest Control Technicians School!
Thank You,
Mitch Taylor

PCT School General Information Name Badges Your name badge is your admittance into all sessions and social events. The bar code on your nametag will be scanned in each educational session to verify attendance for re-certification credit. Admittance will be refused to all who fail to present a current name badge. Replacement badges are available at the PCT School registration desk. Assistance Attendees can find help at the main registration desk, association help table or at the hotel check-in desk. Reader boards throughout the hotel provide daily updates on sessions. Non-Smoking Facility All meeting rooms and the exhibit area have been designated as non-smoking areas. Smoking is prohibited except where designated by the hotel. Continuing Education Continuing Certification Units (CCUs) are awarded for attendance at sessions covering certain subject matter taught at the school pending approval by the Structural Pest Control & Pesticides Division. These units may be used to satisfy pesticide re-certification requirements and are awarded at the rate of one CCU for each 50 minutes of approved instruction. A permanent record of your CCU attainment is maintained by the Structural Pest Control & Pesticides Division, NCDA, 1090 Mail service Center, Raleigh, NC 27699-1090. An annual update of your CCU record will be included without charge with your certification or license renewal forms. Extra copies may be ordered at an additional charge. Specify your Social Security Number when ordering. In addition, you can verify your credits earned on the SPCD website at: http://www.ncagr.com/aspzie/strpest/Recert/RTsearch.asp.
Sessions that carry CCU credit have met at least one of the following EPA criteria:
1) Label and labeling comprehension; 2) Safety; 3) Environmental factors and
consequences of use and misuse of pesticides;
